Are all six headers hot after warming up the bike?

Gummy carbs?   (slow speed)

Ran any Berryman's/Seafoan/Techron lately?  I would.  Pure gas is good too.

Did you check behind the couch? That's where I usually find stuff that I'm missing. Grin

its more like the engine is studering at low speeds or when cruising but goes away when i accelerate... kits kind of hard to describe but you can actually feel it in the grips

If it goes away around 3000 RPM it could be clogged slow jet.

You said you can feel it in the grips, generally if it feels jerky or quick missing then it will be ignition, like coil ground or fire jumping somewhere. If the miss is slower or just a drop in power it will be fuel related.

Did all the plugs look the same?

Vacuum leaks can cause a stumble. Low battery charge can cause weak ignition or weak alternator can cause ignition trouble at low rpm. Bad grounds can cause engine miss (the ignition grounds to the frame and the frame grounds to the engine by a wire connection, then the engine grounds to the battery by a second wire) had that problem myself, low rpm miss.

Need to figure if its fuel or ignition first!

i'm going to re-pull the plugs tomorrow and check them out again but the lat time i had them out they looked OK that was about 3 weeks ago. the problem went away for a while and i thought it was fixed but it came back again today. i believe its electrical because my tac takes awhile to go to idle speed when i let off the throttle. yes the carbs are in sync. it starts right up and has a new battery. i do have a dyno 3000 ign box and a Denmark fuel shutoff valve. could it be the needles in the carbs or valves needing adjusted ? I'm stumped!

If I understand correctly, you say the revs don't go down right away when you let off the throttle ? If so, that sounds like a fuel, vacuum, or linkage issue. Not an electrical issue.

I'm with meathead on this one. Specifically the vacuum possibility. These bikes are getting to be in their late teens. The rubber stuff is degrading. Tighten the rubber sleeves around the intakes, replace the vacuum lines. Relatively cheap and easy. If anything, you eliminate that possibility.

How old are your plugs?
