Found my squeak

While out in Colorado, I started to hear a squeak coming from the rear of the bike but I couldn't pinpoint it. Thought it was the brakes, because when I put a little pressure on the rear brake, the noise went away.
Boy I was wrong, just glad it held up until we got back. Not sure why it failed as the bearings were only 2 yrs old, put them in when I had wheels powder coated.

Nick, have you done the bearing mod on the rear wheel? The left bearing...change from a single row to double row with a cut down spacer(see Grumpy) and no dust cover.

I did the mode on my bike and did reinstall the dust cap, I just glued it on with silicone never came off.

No I have not, I already pressed in new bearings.

In almost every Thread about failed wheel bearings somebody mentions it so I should that if the spacer between the inner races inside the Hub isn't snug against those races you'll have a side load on the bearings that'll cause a premature failure. Methinks the installation of wheel bearings is every bit as critical to bearing life as which bearing you buy provided it's the right size and all
