Hey, I'm going to attempt to remove my rear tire without any stealers working on it...or saying they did...I was wondering what is the part number for the famous hidden gasket...I can see where Partzilla and Bikerbandit have the two gaskets showing, but can't remember where I saw the "third" gasket p/n was...Any advice would be greatly appreciated...I have a 99 CT and was also wondering if I can take off the rear shocks as I have seen on a video for a "standard" do...I already have taken off the hard bags with all the brackets associated with them...should I remove the (small) rear fender too...???

Are you asking about O-rings?

If so, I use the ones from this site.

If you have all the bags frames off, than you have a standard as far as removing the wheel goes.

Removing the rear fender is personal preference, some do, some don't.

Thanks Hook... I am referring to the O Rings...Just thought I saw someone post the original p/n for the "hidden" O Ring...Pretty warm down here now, so I thought I would sweat a little as I try to do this my self...since I don't want to ride on the tire now, why not learn stuff...!!! Ride Safe my friend...!!!

If you remove the rear half of the fender, you only need to get the tire 2-3" off the floor instead of jacking it 2' high. That's what I do plus pull the shocks off at the bottom, sometimes clear off so I can clean stuff. Then use a floor jack to raise/lower the swingarm with ease. I also put some jack stands under the engine guards for stability. Once you pull the axle and the spacer on the left side, just slide the wheel to the left out of the final and roll the tire out. I hate seeing an 800lb. bike sitting 2' in the air while wrestling with a heavy wheel, I know a lot of riders do it but it's not necessary.

Clymer manual list a measurement for a bracket that is used in place of the shocks to hold the swing arm level. Bag brackets do not usually have to be removed. (some times) The job is easy enough  , just take your time. Pull the rear end and check the drive shaft while you are that close. Follow the info on the tech board. M A K E  sure your bike is stable.

I never remove my brackets nor my bag rails. You will have to adjust the level of the Jack to remove the axle.
