My 99 CT..."Liahona"

Augusta, GA.

« on: July 17, 2017, 09:19:26 PM »

I have to replace my rear tire on my 99 CT and I am getting my ducks in a row...In the past, on my 04 VTX 1300C and on my 06 VTX 1800 R, I used "Ride-On" Sealer/Balancer in my tires...So I was wondering if any of you have or do use "Ride-On" in your tires on your Valks...!!! I have never had any problem when I used it on my other bikes, and I didn't even have to use wheel weights because of the "Ride-On"...I do plan on using it on the rear tire and when the front needs to be changed, I will also use it...Just looking for opinions...Thanks...!!!

I use it on all 3 of my bikes, have never balanced a tire since I started using it, no tire vibrations, so I guess it works.

I have it in both tires. I use the weights from previous professional balance jobs to static balance the tire/rims, then add Ride-On. I have no vibrations, and as far as I know I haven't tested the puncture-sealing ability of the Ride-On.

I think ride-on does OK with balance.

I got the chance to use its sealing powers the first time
I used it. I had been thinking about ride-on for a while...
I had just mounted a new rear Avon... it had a slow leak in
it. It took a while to find the leak with a spray bottle of soapy
water. I had just gone through the wheel removal rigmarole
and wasn't looking forward to doing it again. I put in some ride-on
and rode it that way until the tire wore out, leak fixed.

Great product! Used it in my previous bikes.  Unfortunately, I have remote TPS inside the rims so can't use it anymore.

I use too, no problem with balance not happy with it's ability to seal a small nail hole, even leaving the nail in place and removing the nail, no change. Even checked the ride-on site for suggestions doing what they suggested. Ended up using a rope plug till I hit the wear bars and then replaced the tire. There are other products out there that do the same thing and cheaper. The ride-on only coats about 1 1/2 inches centered in the tire. My nail hole was almost in the center. It does cling to the tire and not the rim as advertised. I am thinking about looking into the ATV tire products the next go around.

Good luck with it. Some folks swear by it, me not so much.
