Well was out for a ride Saturday and was at a very busy intersection and just sitting there looking at the traffic, I found someone else doing the same thing LOL He is a little bigger than the pic makes him out to be and I looked around and thought how many have gone through this intersection and never noticed him. Well I guess that is a perfect example of what we see when on our bikes that most dont see.

I ride along and through the Everglades alot, the traffic is usually light and you can see the cane fields go along for miles. I can ride pretty much at my pace and not have to worry about keeping pace with others and it allows me time to look around. Sometimes I stop and get a pic of the local inhabitants like the cranes, crocks, and other assorted critters that live there. Sometimes its nice to stop and just take things in with the quiet and peace knowing that out in the fields the life that is out there. There was a bit of rain and it cooled things down a bit which was a welcome relief from the heat, getting wet and seeing the beautiful change in the area was just magical. A red wing black bird flew by and the red on his wings was the most vibrant I had seen in a long time. Sometimes its nice to stop at the pumping stations that keep the water flowing in the fields and listen and watch the water moving. Quiet sentinels doing their job through the years. Some were built in the 40s and show a different time when machines were big and stood the test of time. Yet simple and did there job without to much help. Riding along a little further the rain stopped and as I drove along my shirt that was wet went to completely dry by the time I got home. Washed the bike and went in for dinner, it really doesn't get much better than this. The week had been a busy week and many questions were bouncing in my head. By the time I sat down for dinner those questions seemed to be answered one by one with an order that was not there before. I have to thank God that this time out in the open looking at His works and marveling at what man and God does to transform things puts a new perspective on things. What a ride, short, sweet and to the point, we are truly privileged to be able to enjoy this.

Safe travels to all today and whenever you ride.

Robert,
Are they native to Florida, or like a lot of other reptiles, were they released by stupid owners when they got too big?
I have seen some big ones down in the islands.  He is a pretty good sized one.

I dont believe they are native and in fact are probably changing the eco system. I have seen them be 7 to 8 foot from head to tail. Be careful in approaching them some are pretty mean.

They are very invasive.  Just look to PR for answers.  They are so invasive that Iguana hunting trips to PR are flourishing.  Here is one trip advisory for going on a Iguana hunt.

I wonder if it's good to eat?
The link shows them cooking on a grill.  Anyone here try it?

Robert, thanks for sharing the pic & story...
