One of my fellow club members, Gerry ( San Jose Dons M/C, San Jose, CA) has purchased a Red/Black Interstate Valk from a Life clubmember who moved to Ohio, due to health problems (back) she hasn't ridden it for 2 years, but has sold it to Gerry. He is having it shipped here to Fremont, CA Honda Shop, with instructions to the shop to "go thru" it and get it ready for the road. Should Gerry be aware of any special things that should be done (instructions to the Honda Shop) before accepting it? Besides the obvious fuel system cleaning, battery, fluid changes. I'm not sure if it was prepared properly for long term storage. Any one out there dealt with a Valk in this condition.
Gerry really does'nt have the knoweldge and tools to do any service on his new Valk, I did tell him that I would help/teach him how to do routine maintenance on his Valk in the future. I believe the Valk has less than 7K miles on it. This Valk was orginally purchased in the Sacramento, CA area, and is now "coming back home". I'm not sure what year it is.
Personally I don't trust any Honda Shop in my area to really know how to work on Valks, typically they don't see to many of them.

Any local Valk owners here in the San Francisco Bay Area, hopefully the "South Bay" area that can recommend a good shop that knows Valkyries?
I purchased my Red/White '97 Valkyrie Tourer New from Milpitas Honda and now have 97,800 mile on her, Milpitas Honda is now out of buisness.

Bruce, it's 2009.  October 2009.   Grin

Best bet for shops that may know how to deal with Valks are independents who regularly work on Wings.  The local Goldwing club probably knows of one or more.

Hey there neighbor,,( I am in San Jose 280 & 101 intersection area)  I had taken my Valk to Milpitas Honda when I bought it 4 years ago,, they did not break anything but I did not like the cost or the skill level. Anyway... you need to talk to Fred from Hollister Honda Powersports dealership, Fred is the Manager: Fred Gotelli (phred user name on SBR forum) there. He will stand behind any and all service or sales fully.  They are gonna do my front suspension work as soon as I can pry the wifes fingers off the CASHOLLA. Fred offered to drive me back home to San Jose from the shop and pick me up when the job is done, I have heard that they wash and dry (mini detail) all bikes that come in for service.

Send me a message if you need contact info for him, I am a memebr of SBR (South Bay Riders, forum) and he is a member over there on that forum. let me know if you need anything maybe I can help out also, since I am in your neck of the woods. We should hook up and do some riding. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Oh and I am in no way related or professionally or finacially associated with Hollister Honda or Fred.

I worked in Fremont for 6 years and used Fastline near Mission and 880.
He does them all and never blinked with mine. Principals name is Alex Torres.
Big Rick the evening DJ on KFOG mentioned he takes his bikes there too.
His link
http://www.fastlinecycles.com/

I highly recommend him. Never pushes service it didn't need.
