Hey .... criminals gotta make a living somehow.  Can't expect them to get a real job in this economy now can we?   Grin

That's another reason gun and ammo sales have increased... so honest citizens can protect themselves and their property.

Sorry to hear it. Just up the road here in small town, there has been a bunch of barn breakins. Anything they can carry, or drive on a trailer is fair game.

Unfortunately, it'd cost far more to defend yourself legally if you shot the perp stealing the bike than the bike was worth.

True, but they sure seem to use Property Taxes as their "end-around".   tickedoff

At least vehicle registration fees aren't based on original purchase price like they are in some states.

My neighbor that lives behind me told me her car was broken into the other night and her GPS was stolen.  It just so happens that her neighbor happened to have video cams running (due to crime in the neighborhood) and they got it all on tape.  The cops drove to the nearest pawnshop and picked up the GPS.
i think we've been fortunate in my area that it seems like a lot of people work from home or are in and out of the area a lot throughout the day.  But I'm not sure how apparent a burglar is these days...
I think the use of webcams/CCTV etc will continue to grow and provide a lot of protection in the future.

Hmmm, thinking back to a post regarding "skunk disposal".... I believe SmokinJoe said you should have the hole pre-dug to dispose of the varmint immediately.  Maybe that would apply in this case as well ???? 2funny

Sorry to hear about that.  It almost happened to some of my coworkers this past summer when they were riding from Wisconsin to the Dragon.  They stopped for the night near Cleveland, OH and had parked their bikes at their motel and walked across the street to go to a resturaunt for dinner.  At some point later, one of them looked out of the window, back towards the motel and saw the police cuffing and stuffing three perps who were trying to steal their Harley's.  The hotel man (or woman) just happened to catch them trying to load the bikes into an enclosed trailer and called the police.  It ruined the trip down to the Dragon but at least it saved the bikes from being chopped and exported.

My joke has always been that the cheapest insurance you could buy for your bike is a HD branded cover.  If you park it outside, just put the HD cover over it, and sprinkle a few drops of oil from a can onto the pavement below, near the kickstand.   Most reputable theives will not look at it twice and move on to more valuable stuff to steal.
