It lists all years of the 1500 GoldWing as being compatible.  I thought the GW used the same tool as the Valk, but if I type in the Valkyrie info in the boxes to check compatibility it says it isn't. Compatible with the Valk? Yes or No.

Hi, just buy a 36MM socket and make your own. It's  simple to make, tape around the socket  mark where the tabs are and grind out in between the tabs.

I use the same socket for both my Valk and Goldwing 1500.

Just bought one for my collection. Online dealers still have them available, but they're $120.

Exactly what I did a number of years ago. Socket was $3-4, marked it off using a spare nut I have, quickly found out a hacksaw was useless on that steel so used my die grinder. An hour later I had a steering stem socket for $3 and an hour of my time. Make all the vertical cuts first to outline the prongs, then make the horizontal cut between them. Dress up the cut out area with a grinder and it looks just like the $120 item....for $117 less.

I would indeed have made my own if I had to buy OEM.  Just figured the $35 including shipping was an ok deal as I would have needed to buy a grinder to DIY.

I understand!  cooldude  Keep in mind, they're not that expensive and can be used for many different jobs around the house. I recall about ten yrs. ago the lady next door couldn't get her old leaking kitchen faucet set out in order to install a new one. It had been place for nearly 25 yrs. and the fixture underneath the sink was rusted and wouldn't move. She asked me for ideas, so I told her to open her kitchen window which faced our garage side entrance. I ran an air hose over and through her window, a few minutes later I'm reeling it back up and she is holding the old fixture all cut up with my die grinder. She baked me a double batch of chocolate chip cookies in payment.....so see, it pays to buy a die grinder.  Grin
