Brenda and are riding to Durango and spending 3 nights. I had thought about checking out Mesa Verde on the way up, but by the stage of the ride we are likely to be hot and tired. For you guys that have been there, isn't it worth it checking it out another day ?

I think it's worth it Rob. If you're staying in Durango, it's a short ride over to Mesa Verde National Park. Then you can loop around up the Deloris River, through Telluride, and Ridgeway and pick up the Million Dollar Highway down to Ouray, Silverton and back to Durango. Great one day excursion......amigo rick

If you have never been it is a must.  cooldude The ride up to the top of the Mesa to get to the ruins is a great little ride.  Cool

What are the dates that you will be there. Maybe we could hook up for a dinner?

Grin I never try to keep up with Ron. Well, maybe once in a whiteout over the pass. But that was only so I could see some tail lights . Otherwise, I wouldn't have seen anything.

Ah yes Monarch Pass the visibility was somewhat limited that day. Everyone made it safe and sound, but extremely wet.  coolsmiley

I still feel kind of guilty buying the last pair of waterproof gloves before Rik got them. Only needed them another 50 miles. Haven't used them since.

Well I think Rik has gotten over it. He doesn't swear anymore when your name is mentioned and I think he told me that he has removed a picture of your face from his dart board also.  Grin  2funny

Hey, Ron. Any favorite eating establishments in Durango ? The Thai place Brenda and I went to was good, but they had like 4 chairs.

Hit the Diamond Belle Saloon.  Good food, good entertainment, good atmosphere.

Thought I'd contribute as well.  Roll Eyes

Definitely a neat place to visit but much of it requires pulling over and going to see. My son and I cruised through there back in 2013 and glad we did. We then hit Zion, after and overnighter in Kanab.

If you're wanting to make time though, MV may not be the best plan as you'd be hurrying through it. They also have camping there.

Sounds like an overall fun run either way.  cooldude

If I had to chose between a visit just to Durango or just to Mesa Verde, I'd chose MV in a heartbeat.
