here we only got 80 % blockage of the sun. I glanced at it with my welding helmet. Didn't get dark and the birds didn't fly upside down. Can see another in 7 years. Hope all took care of their eyes! But you know there will be a few that don't.

Nice lawn there buddy. Pfft, that's not even the lawn, that's the weed growing up IN the concrete! Have I mentioned we've had a VERY wet spring and summer here in The Republic??? I did finally download the high quality pics from my good camera, and I thought this one was kinda interesting...

We had 94%. Sat in Back yard enjoying it. Had the paper glasses and a couple of sheets of cardboard with pin holes. Temps dropped some 7-8 degrees according to Weather app. It was great, no traffic, nor hordes of folks milling around, nor a long drive home in bumper to bumper traffic. Just the wife, dog, and me.
wife has several humming bird feeders in the yard. The birds didn't seem to mind the change in temps nor light. Just kept on doing what they wanted. dog didn't seem to mine either, just enjoyed the slightly cooler temps.
Suppose to have another one hit us in about 7 years, may be able to enjoy it the same way.

We were at 89 percent. Wife had the cardboard glasses and they worked good. However it is just not the same as going completely dark for 2 plus minutes. The good news is that on April 8, 2024 we will be in totality here in Arcanum, OH. I think Gavin will also be in Columbus, IN from the chart I looked at. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/missing-2017s-total-solar-eclipse-start-planning-for-the-next-one-in-2024/70002507My sister in Michigan and other in Fl called yesterday to book a reservation at our home for 2024. I am sure the other in CA will do the same. But we need a contingent plan as Ohio is an old Native American word that means land of no sun, and April can be pretty sketchy.

We were at 99.2% here. It did dim toward the apex but disappointingly did not really get dark at all. Apparently just a little tiny bit of sunshine is enough to produce a level of daylight.
The streetlights did come on

We ended up with 2 view boxes and a glass out of a arc welding helmet. We had 8 people from the block at an impromptu eeeclips party! We did NOT have a total eclipse here but were happy with what we had. My thermometer that sits on the North side of my house-ALWAYS in the shade-indicated we had an 11 degree drop in temps during the eclipse. No birds flew upside down and-Serk-that moon serpent NEVER did show up! RIDE SAFE.

We are right in the path. I was shocked how much light just a tiny bit of the sun puts out... -Mike

Took my RV 500 miles round trip for totality. Worth it? not sure, big traffic and now very tired. Would I do it again? Nope. An I've been astronomy buff for 65 years. Maybe I'm just an old fart.

As far as I know, there were not any dogs eyes damaged by looking at the sun, although I read warnings about making sure your dogs eyes were protected. No, really, there were warnings to that effect, really, I am not lying.....

Not sure many animals care what is going on in the sky, except for other critter flying around or an airplane.
