I don't hear a lot about people changing their plug
wires, though I'd always do it when changing plugs
on a car.

The OEM wires co$t a bunch, I think they have some
specific properties, resistance or  something...

Other folks have changed out their plug wires with
colored wires...

Thanks. My son lost internal lock clip so #3 suction cap allows water in plug recess. For colored wires I need all internals. I guess OEM for #3 is only option. Was just checking because some Honda cars have similar spark plug recess. But cap on coil pack has to be right on also. I got a parts house friend whose going to take my #3 to store and mess around in spare time checking similar Japanese wires. If I get a hit from him I will post here. In meantime going to dealer for 1 new #3..Can't go to dealer til next week so if anything comes up I will still be checking post..

Avalkyrie, I had a similar problem, one bad plug wire.  I found a coil and both wires on eBay for less than $20 including shipping, may have been my lucky day on finding the parts I needed.  Once I had the replacement wires I did the spark plug mod and haven't regretted it once, it's not too hard to do, just take your time, and it improves the look of the bike in my opinion.

Did you read the link that Hubcap posted? You don't need to buy new guts, etc., just move them from the old wires to the new. It took me one rainy afternoon along with a few breaks, it's an easy job, just don't be   in a hurry and have plenty of regular rubbing alcohol handy.

By the way, that's my write-up and bike.  cooldude

BTW good write up as I've done mine 2 yrs. ago. with your PDF illustration. I often post it on the Honda Shadow Forum as it seems Honda is very proud of their sparkplug wire $$$.

Not to worry, I'm neither a politician or an egotist. However I am rather proud of some of the work/improvements I've accomplished on my ride. Apparently I'm not alone in my feelings re. the bike since I have a few trophies to go with it.  Wink
