Steel Cowboy mentioned this in another post.  When and if you get to be 62 you can go to most U.S. Forest Service headquarters offices and buy one of these for $10.  I understand that they are indeed going up to like $80 later this year.  It is a one time fee, no renewals and gets you and anyone in your vehicle into any National Park for free.  Worth it's weight in gold so if you have made it that far in life get one.  It has saved us many dollars on our trips to the parks out West over several years.  Sometimes the state parks will give you half off of your entry fee also but you have to ask.  When we went to Mt. Rushmore this year it ended up getting us 50% off the entry fee even though the attendant first said no passes.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you’re in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

I was given a National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass last year that is good for life. It was free but you have to have a disability. I got it at The Fort in St. Augustine and its good for a guest also or up to 3 guests if your in a car. It is not honored at State Parks like Rainbow Springs but one I went to gave a discount. Anyway if you have a disability take advantage of this generous offer Smiley

Jack you would qualify, and you could have used it on your trip to the Grand Canyon 2funny

Apalachicola, Wakulla, Craw(dad)ville, Loxahatchee, East Ochopee.....Bill, gotta love those Irish names we give everything down here.  Grin

As for the passes, Rita and I got ours a few years back during one of our many adventures while traveling out west. Has really come in handy, saved us some bucks. (come to think on it, been more than a "few" years)  Wink
