I have a 2000 I/S the radio sounds like it needs to be tuned in a bit to get the station in  not good sound at all.  I replaced the antenna and cable to the radio box under the seat, no luck.  all speakers all sound the same,  so it;s not the speakers,,  any ideas  or suggestions?  thanks

The speakers on my 2000 are also less than crisp. Turn the volume up and they get really bad. I think my problem is because they are 17 years old, along with being exposed to the elements for a lot of their lifetime.

I am thinking of doing an upgrade this winter.

My 2001 interstate had the original speakers, going on 16 years of rain and washing's. I Replace them with pioneer's, I belive the back ones are 4 1/4" and fronts  4", I could be backward on that. The radio has 2 settings one is AVC and the other setting is AMV, try turning the AMV off. I use AMV when I listen to pandora or prime radio, it brings out the sound a bit more. AMV doesn't sound so good on the radio. I had an amp installed and sounded great, till it burned out, so I went back to "no amp" for now.

I have had my I/S for nearly 10 years now.  Decided that I couldn't really hear the sound coming from the speakers at Hwy speeds, so went with Helmet mounted speakers.  Haven't had the bike speakers on since then.   Just saying it works for me.
