At the DFW meeting, we discussed the Hill Country ride and the thought was to delay it until spring 2018 to allow all of us to be able to participate, maybe around bluebonnet time.

Opinions?

Our current schedule was around October 21st for the ride.  With the damage in Houston and the surrounding area, the thought was that it was not an optimum time to be away from home on a ride when there is so much to do with the recovery.  A great many riders for the Hill Country come from Houston and Mark Stovall is one of the prime planners.  Our little group was concerned that it might be too much to ask and waiting until spring would be a good idea.  I am looking for opinions.  If your opinion is to stay with October, let us know.

And (hot off the wires), Mike (hubcapsc) will be able to come in the spring since he will be retired by then.

Spring would be a great time, giving everyone plenty of recovery time. Besides, later than October will probably mean cold and rain.

We fared well from the storm, so we are good with fall or spring works for us.

Thanks for starting the discussion, Mark.  I'm glad to get everyone's input.  More opinions are solicited, and an announcement will come out soon.

I vote for both Fall & Spring! With no longer having the "GOTF" to look forward to, it would give us a new tradition each Spring!

The answer to "should we delay it" is becoming self-evident.

There's not any time to plan for an event 2 weeks away. Let's do spring instead.   cooldude

Concur.  I'll start investigating March or April.  Anyone care which weekend?

Not the last weekend of March or the 1st weekend of April. I always have conflicts. Easter is April 1st.

April 7th there's an open-house in St. Amant, LA  which some may be attending.

If you do it in the spring would you let the Texas Sidecar group join in?  There was talk at the Razorback Rally about going to the Hill Country in the spring.  Before you think it will be all Urals, there were some neat large displacement motorcycles and some unique individuals that attended the Razorback Rally from central and south Texas.

The more the merrier you know.
