Well I’m just getting around to posting pictures of my Annual Fall Color Ride to Colorado that I took last week. I was a little early this year, but still got some good colors. I had a great ride and the weather was pretty good most of the ride. When I got to the top Wolf Creek Pass the bottom fell out on the way down. Heavy rain, strong winds, lighting, very close thunder and of course hail (Not to mention I was almost out of gas with 235 miles on the current tank). This went on for about 15 miles, but then I had blue skies again into Pagosa Springs. It was a great trip can’t wait until next year. Enjoy!!

Nice pic's Ron. Looks like Hwy 149 - The Silver Thread on your Road to Creede pic around Slumgullion Pass.

I believe that those mountain peaks off in the distance in that pic are the headwaters for the Rio Grande (disclaimer; I am getting old so don't bank on it).

There's a neat little cafe I like to stop along Hwy 149 in the Wagon Wheel Gap area known as the Blue Creek Café/Lodge south of Creede and about 11 miles north of South Fork. Never stayed over but the food has always been pretty decent. (old pic).

I was just up at the NM/CO border myself on Monday in the Cumbres & Toltec, Hwy CO-17 area. Great weather for a ride. I even had to put the liner in my mesh jacket as our temps have been dropping some. I was wondering how you AZ Riders were doing that were headed that way.

Gary you are right on it was Hwy 149 The Silver Thread. Outhouse picture were taken at the Windy Point lookout and the road pictures were going up and coming down the east side of Slumgullion pass (11,530 ft). The last picture was taken at Browns Lake overlook. Never ate at the the Blue Creek Cafe, but I will mark it in my book for next time. This is such a great motorcycle road can't wait to go back.

I had quite a plight myself heading up Wolf Creek Pass some time ago, coming back from a late April ride to visit my daughter & her tribe in Vegas and then a drive-by Laughlin for the River Run. Weather had been great until breaking into CO, the storm blew in and it was climbing Wolf Creek in snow/slush/sleet covered road conditions. Not sure the plows had even begun yet. Didn't know what kind of traction I'd get. A wild ride indeed, improved after dropping down into South Fork.

View from the Wolf Creek Overlook (none from the snow event)

Here's another stop off I like to make for a quick view, just south of Lake City. It's easy to miss. Overlooks Lake San Cristobal.

And just a quick pull out as you come into Lake City from the south (between the San Cristobal Overlook and the City proper). This one I have missed on occasion but try to remember when in that area because it's a great view.

Didn't mean to hi-jack but these are some neat scenic stops/views from that stretch you were on. OK, I'll stop now.

Thanks again for posting your pic's, brought back some nice memories from those areas. Glad you got some colors showing, they weren't quite starting at the CO/NM border.

Great Pictures Ron.  I thought about asking to tag along with you, but had family issues to deal with.  It is amazing how busy retired life can be!   See you at the Barbecue.

You are always welcome to tag along if you wish. I'm looking forward to the BBQ  cooldude

I was getting hammer by the time I got to Wolf Creek Overlook and not only was I dealing with the weather, but they had a lot of flashing light construction polls set up right at the pull out. It was best just to push on. I have been to that lookout many times. Thanks for the recommendation.

Lake San Cristobal overlook I have been to , but not to the last one you posted of the river. I will try to find that one the next time up there.
