Hurricane Harvey came to Texas and took out one opportunity. Hurricane Irma came to Florida and took the next one. The buyer flew in to Jacksonville last night and drove to Gainesville where I picked him up and he headed West around 10:30 or so. So we have no motorcycle for the first time since 2000. We had fun and met so many nice folks that we now call friends. Not going away, just a different direction. Probably no more motorcycles just because the ones we had sat too much. The new owner is very enthusiastic about the bike and promised to take good care of it. He sent a text just after lunch saying that he had some great comments on it when he stopped in Tallahassee for gas. I told him to be prepared, that was just the beginning. They always get a lot of good comments. I am going to have quite a few pieces and parts for sale. The OEM pipes and spare alternator have been spoken for. I'll try to get a list and pictures up soon. Just to name a few things there is a spare rear differential/pumpkin, OEM drivers pegs, OEM passenger pegs for Standard/Tourer and Interstate. OEM risers and cover. OEM brake and clutch levers, reservoir covers. Exhaust tips depending on which ones go with the OEM pipes I will have Standard/Tourer tips and or Interstate tips and or Airflo 18" stacks. Bearings and seals for both wheels. OEM trigger wheel new in the package. More when I get them out and take pictures.

That guy is lucky to have such a well kept ride and he is just starting to see the attention a Valk brings, it is a good feeling when people notice the best looking bike ever made. Glad your deal finally went thru for you. Question, does a trigger wheel ever wear out ?

No on wearing out to my knowledge. Some have modified the oem wheels by filing. I just ended up with one in the original Honda package.

Motorcycling: what a sport/hobby, I would really like to know what everyone finds to replace it, the ones that have moved on from it. Grumpy and I were discussing that yesterday and he mentioned he was asked when he would give it up and his responce was when he can't hold up the Valk, I quickly responded with, that is the time for a Magna. We all talk about the day. I can surely say we will not do the beastly hot summer rides much. Good luck in your travels, update us with your new adventures please.

Got a text from the buyer this morning. Said he ran into some rain in Mississippi but otherwise smooth riding and didn't want to quit. He left here around 11 am and got to Houston at 0200. 850 miles in 15 hrs. I guess that's around 57 mph average with a few gas stops mixed in. Said in his text that he was detailing it so I guess he got a few hours sleep and was back up and getting ready to take his girlfriend for a ride. Jerry in answer to you question I got back into ham radio when I retired 5 years ago. I had been out of that hobby for 15 or so years. Matter of fact the first Valkyrie the 97 Tourer was bought in Ocala in 1999 I think it was when I was about to buy some ham related equipment and Iris suggested that I had mentioned buying another motorcycle. We had a Honda CL-100 back in the early 70's then traded it for a Honda CL-350. Sold that one to my preacher and he kept it for many years. Kids came along after that I life just got a little more complicated so didn't get back in for a while. That and the RV have taken up some time. But like you mentioned I am just not a fan of riding in the heat anymore. We rode to the first Inzane that was held in Paducah Ky. That was a scorcher, there and back, though on the way up we made a side trip to the Maggie Valley area.

The RV sounds like a winner. Travel now, I told Sherry a convertible when, and she is driving!! I can see what I have been missing being the driver on rides and she is back there rubbernecking.

For Patti and I, now that I got the new pick up, a toy hauler is next. We have talked about traveling west to the Grand Canyon and north to Vermont or Maine. But if I could not ride my bike for not being able to hold it uprite, then a trike would be my next purchase. Last week my sister and I were in Indiana, I wanted to see my niece's new home on 5 acres with a 1 acre lake on it, very nice, and found some great back roads near her house. Indiana is not as flat as Florida, I found some great hills and twisty's there. I came back around Atlanta and that was a nightmare, traffic all day long. My other niece lives in the town of Stone Mountain, very hilly there too. Nice roads, but a bit narrow too. Maybe next time I'll trailer the bike to Indiana. Gas prices in Indy were at $2.13 until you got on the interstate then jumped up to $2.69. Back on topic here if I could not ride or drive very far then I would go back to model RC flying.

My problem is that I never give up my hobbies. So... I'm still into collecting and shooting guns; the boat takes a lot of time and provides fantastic entertainment for our whole family and friends; I'm still a car nut (now that I've sold all my four wheel toys it's reading and studying about them; Computers are still on my horizon; and there are things like family, travel, theater, etc, etc, etc. Never know how I had time to work! Boredom will not ever be a problem.
