Am looking to install Oxford Heated grips on my 99 CT but it doesn't look like I can reuse my throttle lock. I find the lock a real benefit on longer trips. Has anyone installed the Oxford grips and found a throttle lock that can be used with them. Am getting to be an old codger and have a friend who swears by the heated grips. Up here in the Canadian prairies we get lots of days where warmer hands would be a real plus.

Since my heart operation, my hands "freeze" when I get temps closer to 5' C / 42' F , not the rest of me, and now I have heated grips on my new to me IS.

I don't notice a name/model on them, but I also have a throttle lock on it. I have an extra set of Oxford I bought long ago to install, and they are clearly marked with their name.

I suspect these are pre 2001. I'll try to inspect today and see if I can find any markings on them. I have a 3 way switch, low/off/high.

Hey Gordonv
Actually looking for a throttle lock to fit the Oxford grips should I decide to go ahead. So would like the name of the throttle lock that is installed on your bike. You have given me a bit of a thought tho and it may be that different heated grips are better suited to a throttle lock. My friend recently put  Oxfords (he had used them before) on his 2000 I/S but had to give up using his Brakeaway throttle lock. A shame as it looked like a quality add-on. I am trying to "have my cake and eat it too" as would like to have a lock and heated grips. He would also like to find a usable throttle lock. Thanx

These say they work with heated grips.

I have Oxford heated grips and Ramie suggested these to me before, and they are on my Honda bucks list. I just wish Oxford didn't require super glue to install their grips. That should be fun to remove on the throttle side. Smiley

Switched to cruise control so sold the throttle lock.

I have emailed Madcorider twice now and have received no response (4 days now). Either they are out of business or soon to be! I have no intention of sending $250 US plus shipping (one for me and one for a friend)to someone who refuses to answer an email. Anyway I decided to move along and started my search again. Anyone used Kaoko throttle control with their heated Oxford grips? Seems like they would do the trick. Not cheap either but like a close friend says "it is only money".
Thanx for any help I receive.

I'm pretty sure the MadcoRider outfit, is one older gentleman producing the product and answering inquiries.  When I spoke with him years ago, he was very nice, and said he would mail it out right away.  I told him I could only send a check, and he mailed it anyway before getting paid.  I also think he is or was a VRCC sponsor.

Have patience and keep trying.

Thanx Jess, will do some more waiting. Didn't want to fire off my money order without having had an answer to my fairly simple questions. From the order form doesn't look like they accept Visa or whatever and I wanted to know whether they ship to Canada and what shipping costs would be. But I'll hang tight for a few more days.

I just did this on my "new to me" 1999 Valkyrie Interstate. I just bought the cheap Harber's Cycle throttle lock on Ebay, and Oxford Heaterz Cruiser grips. I installed the throttle lock on the throttle tube and then put the heated grip on. It's 1/4" off center, but I don't really notice. If you haven't bought the Grips yet, I do recommend the "Premium" grips as I am not really impressed with the controller of the cheaper ones. It's big and bulky and doesn't mount nicely. Also the Premium has the auto off function in case you forget to turn it off. And since you are in Canada, I bought mine from FortNine.ca, a Canadian company that has free shipping and no duty.

Thanx Whatimisit
Yes was going to order my grips from Fortnine and my buddy has the PREMIUM  Oxford grips which he highly recommended to me for the same reasons you have given. Looked at Harber Cycles throttle locks and there is a couple of different kinds. Would you be good enough to send a link to the one you purchased. Also when you state that the lock is 1/4 off do you mean crooked or just set out that far on the grip to stay clear of the raised connection for the heat wire? Thanx for this.

I believe this is the one I bought. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Honda-Valkyrie-GL-1500-F6-Interstate-Manual-Cruise-Control-Throttle-Lock-/271136291162?hash=item3f20fb795a:m:m9IwkamxE0nDKe3oefvJFzg&vxp=mtr

It's meant to go over the grip, so I had to wrap some electrical tape around the throttle tube to get the diameter big enough. But it works great. Yes, the right hand grip is farther out because the throttle lock is in between. So however wide the throttle lock is, it pushed the grip over. Make sure you dry fit everything and double check the wire clearances before gluing, even at full throttle, there is not a lot of extra room. These were the 3rd set of Oxford grips I've installed and I like that they get very hot quite quickly.

Thanx for this WHATTIMISIT. Will give it a try as I already have a similar throttle lock coming off the OEM grips. May try to machine the proper diameter spacer and glue it to the throttle tube in lieu of the electrical tape but you have provided the thought.
