I'm hoping to improve the sound quality without spending too much money but I want to do it right the first time as well. I have the 2000 Interstate. It has the housing for rear speakers but no wiring or speakers. I looked at the unit under the seat but have no idea where they rear speaker outlet is and haven't had much luck looking online either. Any suggestions or help are appreciated.

I would need to find mine too. But they should be on the right behind the side cover, where the 2 large "boots" are coming off the radio.

A few have reported better sound when playing their MP3 through the AUX port.

In the boot which covers the turn signal and taillight wires, you'll find a female Hitachi connector which doesn't have anything attached.

That's your speaker connection. Mine was a 3-pin.

Lewis (of Electrical Connection) can source the connectors. The speakers are standard 4x4" waterproof units. I have one around here somewhere that I can check the impedance of and will update my reply when I find it.

You can use the Electrical Connection wiring harness for the GL1800 (Honda GL1800 Rear Speaker Harness $19.95) it uses the exact plug needed for the rear speakers. The plug is under the right side cover in one of the large wiring boots or cover, its a black 4 pin plug that will plug into the speaker harness. Do a search for speaker upgrades on the forum, there should be lots of info from people upgrading to the Polk 501's or something like that.
Good luck
I have the Honda instructions for installing the rear speakers, I'll see if I can scan them and send to you.
PM me your email.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not in a huge hurry as the cold and snow are fast approaching here in northern Ontario. I just bout the bike last winter and spent the summer just enjoying the ride but this winter want to start tinkering to truly make it my own. Thank heavens I have a heated shop to work in.
