I'm currently riding with the OEM windshield on my 97 Standard. As the girl has about 49,000 miles, the clear coat is gone and she's scratched up pretty good. I've tried the Novus 3 step system, but I think I'm beyond that.

I was wondering if the Memphis Shades will work with our existing hardware. Their shields are reasonable, but the mounting hardware is a bit out of budget right now. Also, I know that they have excellent customer service.

My othe choice is a Clear View based on so many people singing their praises as well as the fact that they make shields that work with our existing hardware.

Any opinions?

Clear view.Excellent product which will outlast other shields.Easy installation.I also refuse to pay high prices for cheap Memphis shades hardware.I would rather buy a worn stock shield and add the larger clear view shield.I lucked out and found a mint stock shield, but still like the clear view best.

The Clearview I used to own on a previous Valk was perfect because they had a bigger size that worked excellently for me plus the Clearview I had was made of plexiglass instead of the stock coated lexan.  You can't successfully polish the stock shield but you can easily polish small scratches out of plexiglass.  It might not be as strong against an impact, like a big rock though.

I had a pretty good sized rock fly off a construction vehicle last month and hit my stock Tourer windshield. I thought for sure it would crack it, but it just scratched it where it hit.

Not I big fan Memphis Shades either from previous experience on the 1100 Spirit. Overpriced and don't function well. Clearview seems to be the way to go. I use a Slipstreamer Classic but it took some modification to get it to mount/work properly though they say it fit and it does but it has to stick up almost straight up to clear the speedo and tach thus not allowing any adjustment. Had to make 1 1/4" spacers to get the tilt proper to work w/o buffeting etc.
