Well I see InZane is now planned for June 10-17, 2018. I'm planning on going and I hope to gather up some of my other Pan-handle Valk brothers and a Special edition VTC 1800 4C. Bill and I had a blast last year in Morgantown for XVI InZane so I know he will want to make this one too. I hope to have many of our FL Valk Brothers making the trip.

Never mind, I just seen it on the Main Board. Well Roanoke Virginia is pretty Country, and not to far. I will probably be down for this.

Last time I ever flew a multi-engine it was to Roanoke. I remember thinking that I should be able to see the airport and that it should be darn near under me. Crossed over a ridge and, thankfully, there it was. Am thinking we are good to go for this one as well.

Sounds like the time my ex and I and our youngest were flying to my folks in Arkansas for Thanksgiving. We flew out of Orlando Executive late Friday afternoon with an overnight stop in Birmingham, AL. I was talking to approach as we were coming in when suddenly the dude got real excited about the same time I lost all the runway lights, he kept calling me, wanting to know if we were OK, etc., and I asked what his problem was. He said he thought we had hit the ridge...."what ridge?" I turned on the landing lights and all I saw was trees....and a ridge. Poured on the power and pulled up, popped over the ridge and there was this beautiful sight of runway lights preceded by the rabbit in a very hazy pocket overlaying the airport. Nowhere on the chart did I see anything describing a ridge or any other kind of obstruction surrounding the a/p or I would have been alerted to it ahead of time. I contacted Jepperson about it, strangely enough the next issue of the chart for that area was delayed a couple weeks. When it came out, there was that ridge warning and a few other items surrounding the area. Of course, if we had waited until morning to leave that ridge wouldn't have been an issue, we would have made the entire trip in daylight and overflown B'ham. That was at least 30 yrs. ago but still very fresh in my mind, every once in a while my ex and I will talk about it....that overly excited guy working approach that night probably saved our lives. The next day my ex took the controls the rest of the way to Arkansas while I kept busy with my camera using a long lens. And our daughter in back, she was rockin' out with her WalkMan and headphones, which irritated my wife because she kept time with the music by bobbing up/down. That's OK in a 747, but a 172 it makes your tail wag up/down. So Pappy, would you guys make it in one day or overnight along the way?

Nick, Sounds like a plan! Will be a smell the roses ride, John. Will go at Lesa's pace (distance and speed) whatever that may be.

Good. I'd lead but I don't want anybody falling asleep at the controls. Jeff Parker used to kid me...."are we going to get out of 3rd gear today?"

That is a doable trip for me, couple days. I will take side roads most of the way, not a big fan of interstates.

Nick, Pappy, John and the rest that plan on going to InZane next June, Looking at the map I see 3 different ways to get to Roanoke from Milton. One does go thru the Macon, GA over to Augusta then Columbia, SC. Looking for a spot possibly to meet up if it works out so keep it in mind please. ( Not sure if any one will be going from over this way at this time) Even if so we still might could meet along the way up or on the way back home? Just a thought......

Keeping an eye on all this goings on. We want to add a large amount of days and enjoy NC is our thinking at this point. I'm all in for a 3 week deal, maybe a couple of different places in NC and a couple nights at G-0

While not in the manly method of riding to all destinations, don't forget you FL guys can take the Amtrack Auto train (with bike aboard) (getting on near Sarasota FL). It ends up here in Lorton VA (NoVA), which would then be about 4 hours back south to Roanoke (unless you decided to run out to Skyline Drive, or farther southwest to Waynesboro VA to the top of the BRP, then down to Roanoke, either of which would be more like an all day ride). I do not know if you can get off the Auto Train with your bike farther south near Roanoke. https://www.amtrak.com/auto-train

Holy crap, I did not know it was that expensive. (I knew it wasn't free)
Gas, a couple nights in a cheap motel and food, would still be cheaper.

That was 1 person and 1 bike round trip. You can get a 1 way if needed. I estimated it from Sanford to Roanoke.

It's actually Lorton, VA outside DC. I did this trip one year way back in 2002 or 2003 to attend a niece's wedding in Fl. I took a week off and didn't want to spend 4 days on I-95. It was a great experience and I'd do it again. I figured I'd get some riding in down south, but it was way to hot. Cruised around in my Mom's BMW Z-3, so not all was lost. Most of the "birds" will be already gone by June, which is when I went, so the train is not over booked or crowded. A coach seat, which is basically a lazy-boy, was comfortable enough to sleep in. Not the best night's sleep I got, but not that bad. Under $300.00 one way. If it's something you guys are interested in doing, I'd consider the one way thing and a ride back on the BRP. Like Jess suggested, get off in VA and back track on the Skyline and BRP.

Going to try and make this one. Will be going solo as Laurie will be working and won't be able to get off. Not sure if I'll be able to do the whole week or not but will definitely try.
Will everyone be staying at Ground 0 or thinking of another location?

Evening Bob, I'll be headed Northeast out of Milton - panhandle starting out I-10 east then cutting up thru south-central GA across the state to meet up with more of the FL riders. I may have 1-2 riders with me and hope to meet up with others. Nick and I have been talking back and forth so might catch up with his team. If going up doesn't work out we would like to ride back south with the FL team that would be heading that way. So pretty flexible here. Stay tuned.....

Evening Bob, Our ride will have a group of us stopping over for a few days with friends in NC. We will probably be leaving a few days earlier to ride the Cool Roads in NC before heading up to Inzane. So we will know more as it gets closer, we will probably only stay a few days at ground zero, then head back and Ride NC /Tenn again before heading back. That seems to be the plan as of now Our Route I'll be headed Northeast out of Milton - panhandle starting out I-10 east then cutting up thru south-central GA across the state to meet up with more of the FL riders. 300 give or take. Mostly classic 1500s but probably a dozen or two Wings, F6Bs and new Valks. And a few odd assorted other bikes too. With back seaters and a few cars, the number of people is always higher than the number of bikes.

Greetings Sammy-d The main VRCC board has listed the past InZane's attendance which you might be able to locate. I attended the 2016 & 18 InZane. The 2016 InZane in Morgantown, WVA had around 350 in attendence with less than 10% on the newer cycles I'd say. A few less in attendance in 2018 InZane in Roanoke, VA but still guessing less than 10%. I hope that helps.
