I think I've decided to buy an hf jack, but not sure if I should get the smaller or larger 1?

Any experience w these jacks would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Im not sure how big or how small you are referring to? I like sturdy when picking the Valk up so I guess I'd go with the more sturdy of the two, which is probably the larger.

I have 2 jacks. One is heavier built (maybe a little larger) so I use it on the Valkyrie.

I have the H/F yellow all steel one. The reviews on the aluminum jack say while it's good it flexes. And when in use I lower it to a stop-not just the jack pressure. While my Phatt Ghurl balances nicely I still use 2  1" ratchet straps for safety. RIDE SAFE.

I have one that is yellow. Been using it for four years. Use it for a turn around so I do not have to back down my drive. It has been used A LOT. Always use the 2nd notch on the lock because if left longer than 24 hrs it will bleed down. Did the mod someone on here posted about a bolt in the release pedal so it will creep down. For Chinese made it has served me well..... disclaimer: no offense meant if we have any East Asians in the VRCC family.....

I've been using the red & black Sears for about 13 years. Been a very good one for me. Have used on GL1500 & GL1800 Gold Wings & on Valkyries. Have moved bikes all around in shop when working on them while on the lift. Very stable when safety bars in use and stabilizing bolts screwed down to floor contact. Just this year have replaced an o-ring in the lift pump and 1 in the release valve. Sears had it on sale when I got it, was a long time ago, think I paid about $60 for it.

No experience with HF gear.
Just want to put it out there, NEVER trust any hydraulic system, always use safety stops, stands or anything to support the load if/when the hydraulics fail.
Work safe, ride safe and enjoy life

I was at HF a couple days ago, and looked at the gray lift. It doesn't seem as beefy as the yellow they use to have.
Compared to the Sears red&black I have, the lift arms are not as far apart. And it doesn't seem to be as heavy duty. Online I read that the HF lift weighs 64 lbs...the Sears weighs 90 lbs. Not trying to dog out HF as I do buy stuff there frequently. Honestly I think the gray lift would be fine for smaller bikes than our Valks.

Edit: was just back on Sears site, there are 2 red&black lifts. One is 66 lbs and the other is 90 lbs. I would go with the heavier lift. The T handle will be better for moving it around also rather than the straight handle.

This is the one I've had for a while. No leaks, flexes, or any other problems. I think it was on sale for $79
