Front tire balancing beads.

I incorrectly had tire shop put 3oz dyna beads in front tire. I realized my mistake and asked to have them replace with correct 2oz. They said their info showed 3 would be ok for that size tire. I seem to have a bit of a hop at slow to mid speed but smooth at higher speed.

I don't believe there's such a thing as too much unless it's way too much. I don't know how much is "way too much" , or if a bunch is "way too much". Three ounces is not "way too much", in any MC tire.

You will have a problem if you have too little. You only need enough to provide balance, more out of balance, more beads needed. Any over what's needed will simply be distributed around the tire. The recommended amount is somebody's guess as to how much is required to cover a reasonable amount of imbalance. It's not rocket science.

The hop could be either an out of round tire, or did they leave the rim weights on ?

I have only heard of people using more in the rear tire than what was required/recommended (4 oz), but have never heard of an issue when this was done.

Thanks for your thoughts. wheel had beads in it prior to this tire. Usually with a new tire front end is nice and smooth until the tire starts wearing down. this time was not the case.

I have 4 oz in each tire on my interstate. I have them in my pick up truck too. You can not over do it, never had a problem, they are both smooth running all the time.

Try putting the bike on a jack until the tire is off the ground. Then place a block in front of the wheel and rotate the wheel to see if its out of round. You can also do this to the side.
