With the leaves and pine sprills falling rapidly, and covering the rocks,
boulders, ledges, and cliffs....the possibility of a slip, fall, and slide is far too great.
We are planning on doing a double top tomorrow....
Penobscot Mountain is 1,194' above sea level
Sargent Mountain is 1,373' above sea level
Total length up, over, and down both, then back to the truck will be close to 6 miles.
All in all, we will have hiked 9 days and crested 14 different mountains here in ANP....
Never imagined not riding the R/G would be so enjoyable....

I did not take "don't do this and don't do that" very well....doctors and surgeons
told me to take it easy and relax, you have lost the muscle in your leg and it won't come back.
Yeah....I basically told them phuck you, catch me and stop me if you can.   Wished I had started
this self motivated exercise regime years and years ago, but oh no, I thought they had my best
interest in mind.

Packing the backpack with 80 oz of vita water, 4 apples, half a cantaloupe, zip-loc bag of granola,
and a couple granola bars....

Slow and steady gets us there and back home in one piece.....

This was by far the most exhilarating, exhausting, satisfying, and dangerous hike to date.
Pictures will not do justice to the beauty we witnessed today.
At times we were so close to the ledge and cliffs, I could not get a picture.
On more than one occasion nothing was between us and a 50 ft fall to jagged rocks.
Penobscot Mountain provides the best scenery of any hikes, w/ or w/out snowshoes.
A few places we had to 'back our way down the rockslides', as walking down you
couldn't see where to place your foot.

I will get a few pics on Shutterfly and post the link....
Between us, we captured 200 pictures.

Let me know if and when you'd like to enjoy this hike, I'll be more than happy
to be your tour guide.  I'll buy the beer and wings once the hike is finished !!!

Left the truck at 9am and was back at the truck at 3pm .....
3 hours to the top of the second mountain and 2 hours back to the truck.
1 hour taking pics, snacks and drinks, and talking with other hikers.

My ass is dragging....

Sounds like a fantasic hike Terry!   I understand about the leaves and limbs causing a problem.  Yeah, the link to your pictures wants me to have an account.   Is there a public link?

Did about 5 hours of helping the boy chip about 20 trees worth of debris yesterday with a 12" chipper and getting and pulling the limbs down his yard had me on my a$$ a couple of times and a slight tweak of my right ankle.  Could not see $hit under the leaves.  His dam driveway is better than a 12 degree incline so I was whooped and and bed a 8:30 last night.
