 2funny Made you look

Yea I know the new Goldwing is out and looking good but really I think Honda used our bikes as part experiment to see how well the new styling would do. Really the F6B, is as we know a Goldwing which was finally admitted by Honda. But our bikes are unique and wonderful machines and have shown a direction for Honda to go in with revision of the Goldwing.

I kind of wonder if the Valk will make the cut in the future, but by thinking about it, if they saved 90 lbs from the redesign and part of that was from the engine, how much smaller and lighter could they make our bikes? What a thought to shave off 90 lbs and a few inches with an increase in power and options.

NOW that I would consider selling my current Valk and signing on board for. While the new Goldwing has more bells and whistles and made by Honda really I made my choice along time ago when I bought my Valk. When I looked at the BMW I thought long and hard about the bike and said no.

I love my Valkyrie and all it has to offer and never really liked the ride the Goldwing has since I don't like the idea of the softer suspension on the Wings. It still has the command consol although smaller and more modern. This was much needed and welcome to bring the Wing into modern design and bikes. They were so lacking in current configuration that there was no comparison.

All in all I love my Valk and consider the improvements made to the wing we already have in some areas. As for the engine we have a reliable power engine that does all that we need it to do and has many millions of miles on them. The Valks are now somewhat old school as the new wing comes out as funny as that sounds to say.  But still current in design being ahead of the design phase when they were made. Its so funny to see the plastic the futuristic cuts and corners on the new wing that some said they didn't like about our bikes. Heck even myself didn't like some of them but the new wing has them in spades. We who bought the Valk were actually ahead of the curve and I believe Honda listened to us and looked at the Valk and wanted to see where they would go.

I do have to admit I'm quit taken with the two new Goldwings! I will definitely see if I can get a test ride in at my local dealer!

I do like the new Goldwing, but I will have mine paid off in the spring and I don't see myself getting into another bike payment.
In 5 or 6 years down the road, if my wife decides to stop riding her Spyder, then we may pick up a newer style Wing.  It definitely won't be new, but we will be able to pick up a good used one by then.  Until that time, my Valk will suite me just fine.   cooldude

In the 2018 Goldwing thread I posted this:

Quote
I pulled into the garage after work today.  My Valkyrie is now broken-in to the point that the mufflers have a bit of a growl to them.  I sat there and let the engine purr for a minute before I turned it off.

Nope, I don't even want to consider another scooter.  After this winter's project I'll have mine exactly where I want it.

But, Bravo! to the Honda R&D team.  They appear to have created another very nice refinement of the Goldwing marque.

We are very pleased with the fairing I built for our Valkyrie.  Next project is the instrument cluster.  Then I think I'm done.  I really, really appreciate this scooter.

Bill, your bike is fine and very unique. We all love the Valk but I must admit the Valk is not as capable as it should be. In winter season you have to ride really carefully and in twisties you must forget to follow the R1200 RT heading for home  Wink
