Went to the Pioneer Aviation Museum fly-in and car show this past Saturday.

Saw another Black Valkyrie there, anybody from here?

Great weather for riding Saturday.

Lots of different Aircraft, Gyrocopters, Powered Parachutes, Biplanes, Triplane...

Great cars in the carshow.

I have a black and red Interstate but I wasn't there. Were they flying or static? I have been wanting to attend an airshow but don't hear of any around me, need to check the internet once in a while. We used to have the CAF in Harlingen and it was a big deal, but no more. We have a small show in Brownsville ( air fiesta ) in March but that's it! A couple of weeks ago a BT 13 flew a couple of circles around HRL and the sound of that radial still turns me on, reminds of the week or two before the old airshows when the old planes were flying everywhere, good ole days.

Both, Flying and Static. You could walk around all the aircraft.

There were a few of the what I call "Alaska aircraft" (not sure the proper name). Tandem 2-seater that had HUGE tires. I've seen these on the Flying Alaska shows.

Seemed like they could almost fly straight up, and they demonstrated that!
I take it they need to gain altitude quickly to avoid trees and mountains.

One came over the airport slow, probably at 1000' into the wind and look like it almost was sitting still!

One of the WWII planes and an experimental took off one right after the other then came around in "CLOSE formation" high speed pass! Very impressive (at least for me).

We used to have the CAF in Harlingen and it was a big deal, but no more.
I remember those.  I always wanted to go but never could fit it in my schedule.  Now their all the way in Midland!!
Which I have gone to, once!
A few years ago myself and a couple of my cousins, who are plane buffs like me, planned a bike trip there and it was great! The trip and the show!
I thought it was going to be an annual "thing" but one cousin quit riding due to age and another got a different job where he couldn't get off at that time so we went no more.

We have a small show in Brownsville ( air fiesta ) in March but that's it!

At least you have that. Here in Victoria they used to have airshows but dropped it for many years then tried to have then again maybe 10-12 years ago.  To me seemed like a really good turn out but then they stopped it again! Don't know why.
