My "new to me" 98 Valkyrie has 19,075 miles on it. Looks almost showroom and I know she was well-cared for at her last home. Took a long ride yesterday morning and then put her up in the garage. This morning, I almost fell to my knees when I saw a drop of oil on the garage floor under my baby....

I looked underneath and the best I can tell, it must have come from one of three rubber hoses that drop down from the motor. One of them has some kind of cap on it. I used a rag and cleaned them up. Since then, no more drops have fallen.

What are those hoses? Would oil drip from any of them? If so, why?

take the cap off.....drain that hose its the air box/crank case vent, and oil/water does build up in there and needs draining periodically

Here's the instructions from shoptalk on draining the dragon drool.  http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/bongobreather.htm

Thanks for the help guys!  Sounds like a simple fix. I hope that is it. Is there any other place back there that might drop oil? The reason I ask is the drop of oil on the floor was very clean. Looked like what was in the crankcase.

+1 on the shifter seal.  Easy fix, too.

+1 on the shift shaft seal.
Replaced seal on my '97 last year at 86,000 miles.
Replaced same seal on Kim's '98 Saturday night at 20,000 miles.
Must be a age thing not a mileage thing with the shift shaft seals {say that 5 times fast! Grin}

Just picked mine up from the dealer....will put it on Saturday....

took all of 15 minutes...then another 30 to clean the oil off the trans...

and then an hour to clean the bikes...and a couple more to polish the boots...

She is all ready to ride, just need some dry weather
