Thought it was the u-joint but the splines have gone south. Was 50 miles from the house on a week ride. Got it home am dead in the water until I can find some parts. Unless someone has some spares, it's off to the local dealership. A question comes to mind: is there any real difference between the '97-98 models and the '99-03s? Thanx in advance

I'd also add in a new seal, circlip. They are usually pretty quick, but if 4 or 5 days is too long Grumpy might have an extra you get now and replace with new when it comes in. It's been my experience the dealer is going to take longer and cost more. Post over on the Florida Chapter and check. How far from Tampa are you ?

Dealers don't price according to Partzilla, they price according to Mother Honda, he will more likely pay $65 and $48.

Most everything I have had to order from Honda has been two days or less. The price is not always the best tho. I usually keep common parts in stock.

SO........I have all the parts and had to wait since I thought I had the 3 O-rinds in stock but did not. While ordering them, I also thought to re-order the u-joint boot since the bike is 20 years old with 92k on the clock. what I cant find is a torque spec for the pinion joint cup. Anyone know that one?

According to the Honda Service Manual it is 80 ftlbs. If you need a manual, you can download it from the Dagg's Norway Site here: http://valkyrienorway.com/download.html
