Definatley have got to get lowers for my '99.

Looked around here a bit but not really happy with what I've seen so far.  Looks like they all just clamp to the front forks.  Is that all that's availiable?  Or are there some that mount to the windshield brackets?

How do the ones that have Dragons or Flames cut into them work?

The ones with the Dragons and Flames cut into them block the wind at that point and divert the air around them.

Some people use chaps instead of bolt-on lowers to help keep them warm and/or dry.

However the Interstate models do a far better job of keeping the wind and cold from ruining your cold weather riding.

Look at these.  I believe the Hondaline ones are no longer available.

I have these on my Std.  They work just as well as the Hondaline ones that are on my I/S but, the ones from bigbikethings...you can remove the panels if you want in less than 1 minute.

I have a set of those.  They are OK.  The lowers themselves should be longer to do a better job.  I went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of Lexan (I couldn't believe they sold Lexan either) and traced the lowers, but made them longer and they worked out great.  Cutting the Lexan was a bitch, though.  I probaly had the wrong blade in the jig saw and didn't have the piece of Lexan held solidly enough while cutting.

Iirc, you have to use a metal cutting blade when you cut lexan and take your time.

Thanks for all the info guys.

My main concern is the air coming up from beneath the windshield hitting me in the chest and causing helmet buffeting, not the cold/wet weather. (I live in South Texas)

Thanks for the tip, Xring, on cutting Lexan, I have a windshield I need to cut down.  Someone attempted to cut a bigger hole for the headlight and musta done it with a pair of end nippers, very uneven.  I have very limited experience cutting windshields and this will give me an experimenting point. Then I'll attempt to cut the top down about 3".

You will have an even better result cutting your lexan with a band saw.  cooldude
