Bought the bike non-running. Doesn't look like it was serviced much but that is changing with me. Has cobra 6 into 6 pipes........got it to fire but was running rough. Taking the carbs out to see what's going on and found it has adjustable needles. The jets look to be stock 35/100 from what I've read. 3 of the 35's were blocked so I'm sure she will run much better once together. I've searched and can't find what kit this might be. I'd like to do this only once if possible. Here is a pic(I hope!) https://photos.app.goo.gl/d0qAuIhRdR4yRQrd2

I'm going to say "Cobra" but it's really hard to tell at that picture's resolution. They're a little fatter at the bottom third than the DynoJet version; I have one of each in my two Valkyries.
Mine are run with the e-clips set in the second notch from the top. Fueling at mid to WOT is spot-on; this with a stock airbox/filter and exhaust.

John, I think you may be right on the Cobra jetkit. Mine was on 3rd notch and had 2 washers on top. It seem Cobra wants 3rd notch with a washer under and on top of the c-clip.
Do you have a washer on top and bottom of the clip?

Both of mine are run with a very thin washer underneath the e-clips. This is to prevent the clips from digging into the slide, and IIRC it's a stock Honda part. There is nothing on top of the clips and the needles are free to wiggle a bit in the slide when the plastic retainer is in place overtop them. Tuning...there are a number of variables here to consider. Are you keeping the 6-into-6 pipes or going to a different style exhaust? Do the Cobras have baffles in them? Jet needle and spring changes are among the easiest carb modifications to make. I'd get the low end performing to spec first then start looking at mid-range (influenced by pilot jet, jet needle and main jet) and wide-open throttle (primarily influenced by main jet). Sticking with the stock mains is a pretty safe bet unless you're planning on doing a lot of head and exhaust work. As far as needles...you can go with what Attic Rat suggested as a baseline and if you need to put more fuel in at midrange and beyond, look into putting the adjustables back in. Reading your plugs (or ideally, a dyno with an exhaust gas analyzer) is going to help a lot here.

Cobra needles are shorter than others, from the clip point closest to the end of the needle to the end of the needle will be less than 35MM

I will keep an eye open for oem needles. One thing I'm concerned about is the "cobra" needles show signs of wear. They look to be stainless? Has anyone had issues with the jet they go into? I'm thinking if the needles show wear maybe the jet is too??

Is the wear on one side of the needles?

Mr A Rat: Are saying the stock needles are better than the ones shown, or better than ALL the aftermarket needles? I have a set of Dynajets waiting to go into my stock '97 Tourer.

Is the wear on one side of the needles? I would say it looks "shiny" on the needles compared to the rest of it.

Just about done cleaning the carbs. I'm going to set them up like cobra suggests and go from there. Really happy how they turned out. Now just need to figure how to post a pic.

I have a set of Dynajets waiting to go into my stock '97 Tourer. leaness to richess OEM FactoryPRO which I use with my airbox mods and Viking pipes. viking and dyna at least the ones I have here are the same. some have said dyna's are actually cobra's vice versa. cobra wouldn't be making their own needles. The instructions I have for the viking and dyna and I've seen the cobra's are all basically the same. some have measured slight difference in dia, taper and length of the viking, dyna and cobra. I feel that is just manufacturing differences since the differences are very small to even be noticeable in operation IMHO.
