I'm gonna head down to Gila Bend on NYD. Just a short ride to start the New Year.
If any one is interested in tagging along I'll be leaving Surprise @ 10AM.
KSU at 1000 should put me down there in time for lunch.
I don't know what's open and don't care, it's a ride not a dinner date....LOL.
Worst case is a cup of Joe and a Donut at the Loves Truck Stop by the McDonalds.

I'm in. Would like to bring a few mates from the east side if that's ok. Will need more definitive directions to the meet up. Address is fine. Thanks,
Rik.

OMG! Does that mean that Ron's leading? Well, I want to go in the worst way, so we'll risk it. Wouldn't want to miss a NYD ride.
There are 4 restaurants in Gila Bend. 3 which are possibly open. One Mexican, one pizza place and the venerable old Space Age. (still stuck in a time warp.) I've been to two of the three. Not exactly destination dining, but will fill the emptyness. Your choice.
See you Monday am!

Here are the pics The bikes involved in the crime The riders involved in the crime well at least some of them the others didn't get caught. The stop before the crime The crime, all evidence was consumed Happy 2018 everyone !!

I'm glad there was at least one Valkyrie to represent the group (maybe it has dwindled to a handful that are left) on the NYD ride. Anyways, thanks to Tom we had a very interesting ride. Most of my trips through GB have been on the way to somewhere else and we always had a deadline. This time we took the back roads through the farm and rural back country. We went through Liberty, Buckeye, Palo Verde, Arlington and other highlights. We stopped at the Gillespe Dam where the old Bridge was. We saw acres of solar arrays, rode Old Highway 80 into GB thru the back door.
Came back to Mesa through Maricopa and Sacaton.
A good day of riding.
Good seeing the guys and thanks again , Tom!

Do you have a map to show the roads you took? I would be very interested in seeing how you got to GB and back. I have only gone the regular way (I-10 & I-8) and as said, on the way to somewhere else.

We left Surprise and took the 303 to the end, then Cotton Lane to MC 85. Took that to Phx Bypass 85 then to Hazen Rd to S Wilson Ave. took that to Old US Hwy 80. OLd US 80 will bring you down to Pima St. just East of the Space Diner..

At least I always enjoy the rice and beans on my plate at a Mexican Restaurant, but the other thing... the taco or the enchilada or whatever... is usually more of the same old same old blah... whatever that thing you have there is - it looks delicious I went with Britman and Duffy and the Atlanta crowd to a Mexican Restaurant in Cashiers, NC, last year and ended up getting some plate with good shrimp and scallops and dee-lishous crispy non-greasy chunks of BACON and even good broccoli and cauliflower... I've been back since then got it again... I'm re-interested in Mexican food now that I have the "avoid the same old same old" attitude... I bet there's a lot of good Mexican/Southwestern food out where y'all are... -Mike

There are SOOOOOO many really really good authentic Mexican food restaurants here in Arizona. (Of course you have the Gringo Mexican food too ) Lots of Ma and Pa places in little out of the way towns. Don't have time to eat at all of them.
