I was thinking about a cheap and "low key" type lights.  I saw someone made their own that looks more like an engine "cherry red glow" rather than the flashing multicolor lightshow type.

Found these on evilbay.....

Yeah I have some reds shining on my engine. Looks good, mounted on back bottom edge of fuel tank, so the strip doesn’t show, only the glow of the lights.

Me too. Comes on with key. Looks good. I mounted mine on the frame under the tank, not on the tank. Also under the carb linkage chrome covers. Nice red glow. My bike is red and black, that’s why I picked red. Some guys go all out, but I just wanted some subtle red glow to my engine.

I already bought these before I saw the remote control ones. They look heavy duty, but the stick on ones look easier.

Previous owner put some red light onto the engine. Not too bright, subtle. Looks good at night.

Bike is black and chrome.

Here's the kit I went with.
http://www.xkglow.com/XKGLOW_XKchrome_app_control_motorcycle_led_lights_p/ks-moto-advance.htm

It can do lots of colors, but I keep it on the same color as my bike. Green.
I like that it can all be controlled by phone. It turns off 5 minutes after I walk away, and can be set to turn on when I approach the bike.
It also can remember where I park, and show on a map if you need it.
It can connect to the brake light circuit, and the entire bike can light up as one big brake light.
I don't use most of those features, but it's nice to have the options.

You may have seen this, here or on my web site.  I have somewhere over 300 LED fixtures and individual LED's on Deerslayer.  Took a long time to install and have 9 fused circuits so I can find opens and shorts. Focused on getting max reflections while hiding the wires and fixtures.  Also used lighting principles from my one-time career as a photographer - using receding colors in the background and advancing colors in the foreground to enhance 3D effect.  You of course can't see all of them in any one shot.

Also added some Velocity Stacks with flashing LED's inside, with screens to hide them in the daytime:

Anybody try some modest engine lighting?

At night, I will flip on my shed light to be able to see my bike parked in front.

That's pretty modest.
