Let's get an idea of who wants to ride on Saturday and if you are more receptive to a particular place.

My thoughts are the Koffee Kup in Hico, The Shed in Odom, Stanley's BBQ in Tyler or the Greenwood Grocery in Decatur.

You may vote for 1 or 2 locations in this poll.  It closes on the 4th.

I'd vote for Greenwood  Grocery. but it depends on how early you are talking about getting started, Friday nights low is suppose to be around 30 or 32.

Sounds great, but I'm 99.96% sure that I'll have to work Saturday.

Y'all have fun!

My vote is for the Greenwood Grocery but would be happy with any of them.  Will probably know tomorrow if I will be able to make it.

It's a roll of the dice whether I'll have a dog in the fight this Saturday, but I will offer up a couple of routes for consideration.

The first is just over 220 miles that starts at 121 and I-35 (there's a Steak & Shake on the NW corner) and ends at Greenwood.  It rambles NW and clockwise up to Illinois Bend and the "indian" bridge then down to Greenwood.  It's about 4 1/2 hours.  Tom and I rode this last summer and it's pretty scenic and has its share of what passes for curves here in north Texas.

The second starts in Plano and proceeds pretty directly to Stanley's BBQ in Tyler.  It then takes a long ramble back northeast, counterclockwise.  It's a much longer trip -- probably 7 hours of riding time.

Tom, JC, and I rode this a few weeks ago on an impromptu weekday ride.  We waited a while to get in at Stanley's at mid-day on a Thursday.  I can't imagine what the wait is like on weekends.  The return ride turned out to include some pretty impressive roads.

I'll be happy to adjust start/end points on either of these routes and send anyone who wants one a GPX file for loading into a GPS.

Yep.  Both rides were great.   cooldude

AND.   Look at the current weather forecast for Saturday.   Cool

They're forecasting (yes, I know) up into the 60s for Saturday and wind is down to the normal 10-15 range.

I won't even get to wear my near thermal socks..  Too hot  Roll Eyes

If you have a dog in this fight, I'd recommend you lead us to the Greenwood Grocery as you know the route and that will minimize uturns.

BTW, what happened to rocketray and Serk?  ???

I would've thought they would be interested in this ride since the most recent suggestions included some "Easterly" destinations.

Speak now.  It's not too late.  Smiley

With the weather expecting to be 'reasonable', I wouldn't mind making Hico the destination of choice . . .    providing our block captain (Rainmaker) says it's okay  Roll Eyes

Not so keen on group rides... Every once in a blue moon I'll show up for one but generally, I'd rather meet up with ya'll on my own...

The eastern side thing is more about weekday meetings anyway, just to get together to hang out for a bit.

I'm still recovering from a URI myself from 3 weeks ago and have seen a couple hundred patients since then...a chilly morning ride wouldn't be wise for me...I think I'd be up for a ride in a week or two..BTW there is a motorcycle track day school called RIDE SMART and they just opened up registration for the year..the MotorSportRanch in Cresson Tx just SW of Ft Worth--is $140 for the day-it's all professionally done and they will rent you leathers and boots--the level 1 beginner group has several cruisers in it --no passing in the corners in that group..a real hoot is the COTA F1 track is Austin--2 killer straight aways dang near a mile long but $450 for the day..it is a bucket list must

The votes say Greenwood Grocery.

10:00am Meetup at the Buckee's at I-35W and 114 in north Fort Worth.
10:30am Kick stands up and we'll go on a modified route of ValkPilot's to the grocery for lunch.

(If only Tom shows up, we'll go to Hico).

Headcount, please!

10:00am meetup, sounds good, hopefully above 40 by then. I'm thinking yes a this time, a modified route that is only 2 hours to lunch would be better than a 4 hour ride, that would be a late lunch!

new job has me working form home, 10:00am to 7:00pm, so I'm getting cabin fever!  I need to get out and ride!

Email sent.

I use Microsoft Streets & Trips.  It's easier than Basecamp, although once you use it, the transition to Basecamp is much easier.

Valkpilot's gpx file arrived - my continuing battle with basecamp notwithstanding - and I've taken out the Oklahome and further north parts of the trip to drop it back to about 2-2.5 hours from Bucees to the grocery.

We'll see how it all works out.  We may end up in Albuquerque, for all I know.
