It's snowing off and on and now I'm on this board too much!  Shocked  Such is biking withdrawl. I'm thinking of getting rid of my petcock all together and installing a QD in place. Just wondering about potential issues with this setup and the how to of it. I'm thinking QD (90 deg if there is such a thing) at the tank, then fuel filter and then a electric shutoff valve. TIA.

Gas up sooner and pay attention to the guage.  Grin  The other thing would be to pack a bit of extra gas, just in case. In a car you don't have a reserve either, so I could pretend I was in a car.  crazy2 That was a good thought. Thanks.

I've been running my blower bikes like that for years.

Just curious...how are you going to take the tank off the bike if you don't have a petcock?

Joe has a good point.  With Red Eye's QD you still need a way to turn off the fuel before you unplug the QD or you will have fuel everywhere.

I'm assuming that the QD is set up  such that when you unplug it, the tank side of the QD closes off fuel flow something like your garden hose QD's.  ???

I currently use Jiffy-Tite connectors. Kinda spendy but they are high quality, high flow. I used fittings from the boat store, they worked ok, but really didn't have the flow I wanted for my EFI fuel system.
They do shut off when you disconnect.

Some guys say they have had flow problems with all that stuff installed.. I would think the key would be  to just be sure the stuff you add is large enough to handle the fuel flow and not kink any lines.. It can get a little cramped in there,,but,, where there is a will there is a way..

Gas flow is a non-starter and a red herring.  An ounce a minute is all you ever need unless you run WOT continuously.

A gas tank with no petcock is foolish on a motorcycle.  An electric shut-off is nice but a mechanical, moved by operator, shut off is a better and smarter choice.

And what benefit is derived from not having a mechanically shut off petcock?

Most talk on this forum is for adding an extra way to shut off the gas, not removing the existing system.

Seems to be counter intuitive.

I'm tired of squeezing my hands in there trying to get things undone and messing around getting that petcock up through the opening with wire bundles in the way. The vacuum connection is especially troublesome. I've got fancy covers on I have to remove to get at the vacuum side. If I only have to remove the left side, no problemo. I figure as long as there is a properly hooked up electric valve and filter things will be a lot less frustrating. Just take the one cover off, reach in disconnect the QD, pull off the vent hose and voila! I've got a Dan Marc in waiting.   Thanks for the input everyone. Smiley
