WTF is this about / a high milage bike without actually riding it anywhere / 240 bucks to show how much a bike hasn't been ridden / only in America could this make any sense

I wouldn't doubt it...I shredded the shoulder and right arm of my leather jacket a few years back. Sold the ruined jacket for more than the new one cost. The owner of the butt-jewerly that bought it wanted a jacket that looked like it had some miles.

I bought a new one and am working on wearing that one out as well.

I agree, that is sad. It could even be illegal.  May be viewed as odometer tampering.  Granted that is usually running the odometer backward but...

I don't know......buy someones old beat up jacket......run up about 80,000 TRAILER MILES on your Harley......buy a couple fake splatered bugs to glue to your teeth......put on the costume and ride down to the local biker hangout......probably get a lot of respect from the local beer joint hog riders.
