Dear Friends

Some of you may recall that about 1 year ago, I had problems in my I/S alternator and while removing the alternator, I broke 2 out of the 3 bolts. Yes, I got over-sized gorilla hands and wasn't aware at the time that this bolts generally will get stuck.

In the day when the bike crap out, the bike was on reserve and I've added Stabil Marine and had just refilled the tank. I was able to ride about 15 miles when the battery went dead.

After many frustrated attempts to remove the broken bolts, I gave up and brought the bike to a shop to have the pros working in the bike (yeah, I know, shameful...). They drilled the bolts and installed collars with new bolts but that is another story.

What I think is relevant to share is that the bike was collecting dust for about 1 year. For close to 365 days, the bike was never started.

I warned the mechanics about the issue, my primary concern was hydrolock and the second concern was that the slow jets would be clogged and the carbs would require a rebuild.

Ok, after the mechanic finished the alternator job and went to start the bike... it turned nice (no hydrolock) and it started in the second try.

Idling is smooth and there are no surges. It is like the bike was sleeping for just a few weeks, not a whole year.

Moral of the story: I'm now a believer of Stabil Marine.

I posted a similar tale bout my good fortune with Marine Stabil. Mine wuz parked bout a year after I unloaded and broke my left ankle August of 16. I had added Marine Stabil to the fuel after the unload. Glad I did. Started up and rode out the old treated gasoline. Argued a mite on the start up after the long hibernation lay off no ridem. But soon off choke and SMMOOOTTH idle on it's own.  cooldude Guessin here it NOT be mouse milk or hokum. RIDE SAFE.

I have also used Helix fuel treatment and it works very good for me, the only problem is that I can't always find it so I go back to Marine Stabil.  I have also used STAR TRON its a enzyme treatment with good results.
