Well I decided to take a look at my Valk records the other day and determined that it had been a while since I serviced my bike. Last year I changed the needle jets in the carbs to make the bike run a little richer. Although it ran ok the bike always seemed to smell like raw gas. So I changed them back to the stock jets. Not a hard job at all. Then I synchronized the carbs which were not far off at all. Changed the plugs which look great. Then I adjusted the valves which only a few were a little loose. After buttoning it up took it for a ride and found my left valve cover was leaking. Tried to reinstall and it still leaked. We considering it's 19 years old I replaced it with a new one and all is good to go. Next I plan on replacing my almost 4 year old battery and front tire to get ready to InZane this year. Last month I also replaced my timing belts, pulleys and springs. Amazing bike for sure. 163000 miles and it does not burn any oil. cooldude

 cooldude I think I'm going to replace my belts and pulleys before Inzane.

Having a vacuum or carb issue. How much time should I alot to clean and rebuild the carbs?

I've done a few carb jobs. But I would give yourself a couple of days at least. Take your time and you should be fine.

Dave is right. It can be done in one day if you have done it before and keep after it. But 2 days is much better. I would recommend replacing the fuel rail o-rings while you have them out. Take pictures of throttle cable and choke cable routing before you take apart. The jets have some tiny holes that get clogged. I found it helpful to unstrand some wire and use one strand of it to help clean these.
