ouch...back to the GIVI trunk...the tubes on the standard valk back luggage rack are hollow and fatigue and broke off sending my $1k Givi trunk off to never neverland..they now sell one that has solid metal thruout

Instead of spending a grand on a givi I'd get a used interstate trunk. I just picked one up with all needed parts for $350 + shipping. Also traded my oem seats sissybar and luggage rack. He gave me the IS fender rails and I gave him my standard ones.  Even after paint and odds & ends ill be less that $700 in the IS trunk

I'm told the IS frames were beefed up to handle the additional stresses of their trunks, and I believe it based on my experience. The trunk is cantilevered back from the top of the shock, like a diving board. I fitted the IS rails to my '97 Std. to mount the King Tour Pack from my '79 FL and things were fine for about 30k miles, maybe half of it two-up...
