Gonna get a new rear tire this season, got almost 9K on MP4 180.  Thinking of getting the 190 size.  Have any of you fitted one on your bike? Thoughts?

Not for me. I prefer a 180 with strong grip on wet roads than any 190 not so good ; not to consider the handling in twists.

For the front, does the Pilot Road 120/70-19 work OK? Michelin does not offer the PR in the OEM size 180/55-17. I assume that most here think the Pilot Roads work better than the stock Dunlop Sportmax on our Valkyrie's??

I have a MPR4 180, 55 17 on there now, so  yes they make one.  It's correct front that is not made.

Stay with stock size and Michelin front and rear. You will love them

Adrian go to this web site and look at tire size difference you may choose not to do it. Make sure you put in the correct tire sizes.

Wow, cool site!  Thanks!  Okay, I compared the 190 to the 180, did I read that right?  The 190 is overall 4+inches taller? Undecided

I c, I c..

In choosing the PR4 in the size I use today that was one consideration that it had to be close to the same size as possible. On the comparison make sure you put in all the tire size numbers for the correct size that you were thinking about going to. The OEM size is ok as listed but the tire comparison size while close I dont believe is the correct size. So while it may not be 4 inches its going to be quite a bit taller. If you play with the aspect ratio of the tire on the site its kind of fun to see the difference in tires.

The rear tire on our bikes is never a problem since its a common size and offered by many brands, its the front that is the problem.

Hello
Has anyone had the Michelin rear 180 55zr 17 not the "GT version mounted and how did it work out? I know the "GT" is for heavier bikes and that's what I thought I ordered until it arrived. Should I return it and get the "GT" version  or just go with the Michelin that I purchased?

What did you "pay for"?   How much is difference of those two tires?    There have been some that mounted that tire from what I recall, but I think it only wore a little sooner.

I wore out 3 Michelin 180/55/17 PR 4's NOT GT versions, not a problem.
I get about 5,000mi. of wear, and I check pressure almost before every ride. (42psi. cold.)
Wear out the one you purchased, after that if you don't feel comfortable about it buy the GT.

Thanks, also for your response.  I decided  to keep it and have it mounted next week. My  original oem tires have 11,566 miles on them .I picked up a nail a week or so ago. I also have the Michelin Pilot trail 120/r70 19 for the front. My tire guy is in Vegas and  won't be back until next week.
