Shooting Exhaust
«

Hey All
My Valkyrie tourer 2000 "shoot" a little in the exhaust at around 2000-3000 rpm, both at idle and while driving?
Any suggestions as to what may be the reason?
Regards

Hey Jan,
If by "shooting" you mean popping noises, you could have a vacume leak in one of the small vacume lines, a vacume cap that covers the nipple in the chrome intake tube could be missing, the O-rings that seal the intake tubes to the engine may need to be replaced,
The clamps which hold the rubber boots between the carburators and the intake tubes could be loose.
It could also be that the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold to the engine need to be tightened. Be careful with this, the bolts can break off easily, just snug them up a bit.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.

If you are talking "popping" that is generally caused by air leaking into the system
First try tightening nuts and screws. All the exhaust header nuts and the THREE sets of screws that hold the intake system together (upper and lower intake clamps, and just under the edge of the gas tank there are the clamps that hold the tubes from the airbox to teh carbs.
Next vacuum lines can cause popping
If you are not talking about decel popping then...................nevermind

Jan,, where is the 'shooting' coming from?? Out of the muffler or the exhaust gaskets?? I won't speculate any further until we hear back..
