Picked up a set of 6:6 pipes and was planning to install soon. I've been reading different posts about what to do after the install and I've seen controversy over rejetting/retuning the carbs vs not. Also, getting a K&N filter vs not.

What are the thoughts on this in 2018?

Thanks

With my cobras there was no need for rejet. But it ran better with K&N.  No loss of power or gas mileage.  Just ran too rich with the OEM filter.

Really? I have cobras and have a K&N, but never installed. So you just oiled yours and put it in? Yes I never rejetted either.  So the K&N allowing more air, took away the richness? But could you not adjust your fuel/air mixture screw to lean it out? Curious, not judging. TIA. BTW no baffles.

I always ran baffles.  I would have had to get onto the carbs if switching to the K&N didn't work so well

Any bike I've had I've gone by  one rule. Change the exhaust don't worry about re-jetting.  Mess with air side then re-jet. Especially when both are changed from stock. The air change I definitely did. I've never done anything to my valk, its still stock. (Pigs are cut but that has no effect.) That so called rule has never failed yet.

I have a set of 6s in the shed that I took off. Too noisey for my taste.  When I put stock back on, other than a noise reduction nothing really changed with the way the bike ran.

Sad Anyone know if there is a difference with hp in a 1997 to a 2003 Standard? 2nd question what is the average hp in the Valkyrie? 3rd What will the make the most hp? using what exhaust and Proper Air Filter ? 4th question what is the hp on a Stock 2014-2016 Valkyrie? I am asking because I am either re[lacing my 2008 or buying a used 2014, I have seen them for abbout $8,000 that is a very good deal, from where my thinking is.
