Valve Cover Sealant
«

I just adjusted my valves (2001 Standard) and bought a new set of gaskets. My Honda Service manual says to use Three Bond 1521 sealant. Is this specific type really necessary or is there a substitute to avoid an on-line order? I searched previous threads but nothing on valve cover sealant. Thanks in advance!

Any high-heat sealant will work.

You only put tiny dabs of sealant on the four square landings, one on each side of the cam at each end the rest of the gasket is installed dry.

I've never used a sealant on a valkyrie valve cover, removed many and the only thing I have ever used was a a small dab of hondabond or = in the corners. I wouldn't use anything in case they need to come off again for some reason.

Thanks for the input. I'll just grab some Hondabond from my local dealer.
