Rear brake caliper

Rebuilt the forks , rebuilt both fronts and rear caliper.
And put russell s.s. Brake cables on (boy the back brake line is a SOB)
Got it all back together and took it for a test ride maybe 1 mile and back brake not working
Pulled in garage and smoke coming from rear . . . .
Caliper sticky and rubbing rotor . . . .rotor super hot. what did i do wrong?why is the caliper not disengaging? maybe just need to bleed it again maybe air in line and just tight to start with?

Did you clean the caliper pistons and the caliper Bores? RIDE SAFE.

Also , clean and lube the caliper hardware.

Ya rebuilt them new gaskets and pistons . . .
Cleaned the begessuz out of them too before i rebuilt them . . .

I rebuilt the fronts and had some dragging. Found corrosion under the new seals. Had to scrape it out to release the pistons. Also; is the fluid able to return to the master cyl? Empty the fluid out. Fill with alcohol and draw that through the system. Multiple times if necessary. Use a Mity-Vac or some vacuum bleeder tool.

The manual says: coat the new piston seals and dust seals with silicone grease

I'm really suspicious of that. I coat mine with brake fluid. That's all I think should be in
there.

And you posted some pictures of some non-OEM seals... did you use those?

I got oem seals and used brake fluid to coat the pistons . Not silicone?!?
I am hoping they just need to be bled . . .
I will tear back into them tomorrow . . .
Fronts are working great . . .
So thats a good thing . . .

The pin that the pads slide on... did you clean that up?

I can't imagine it being dirty enough to make your brakes lock up (you
just said "Caliper sticky and rubbing rotor"), but on my first go-around
with redoing my rear caliper, I didn't clean the pin and the pads rubbed
on the rotor and made it hot...

The groove the seals go in are hard to clean... did you pay attention
to what was down in there?
