Wow! I hope I'm never in that position. I suppose the circumstances of how and why it happened may have an influence on your reaction, and I'm not familiar with the circumstances surrounding this case. Even the Judge was in tears.

Every now and then we have a substitute preacher at church... a few
weeks ago there was this awesome guy, a Marine and now a local
policeman. He had a lot to say about dealing with "those people".
Kind of like performers getting past stage fright by imagining the
people in the audience are all just wearing underwear... when he has to
deal with angry yelling violent people he tries to see them not
as people but as souls, each one of them loved by God...
He still has to take care of bidness, but he avoids some of the being
filled with hate, rage, and thoughts of revenge while doing it.

in todays world would it profit a man to avenge the harm one did to a family member whereas the law would put that man in jail and thereby that man greatly harms ALL members of his family?

His actions also helped avert a nasty riot. The BLM thugs were already starting to gather and threatening violence because she had such a "light" prison sentence, his actions helped shame them into standing down.
For those not familiar with the situation here's the tl;dr - Dallas cop gets off a 14 hour shift, goes home, accidentally walks into the wrong apartment, sees someone standing in what she believes to be her apartment, tells him to stand down, the guy understandably doesn't comply, he's in his own home, so she shoots and kills him.
IMHO, should have been manslaughter, not murder conviction but it is what it is.

I suspected this was the cop in the wrong apt. case, but wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming it. |

IMHO also, manslaughter. I usually get bashed from this, but again a case of really how cops today are being trained. why didn't she retreat? why did she have to do what she did? she was at the door go back out? guard the door while she calls for backup. too many cases today of cops not retreating and just pulling the trigger, this has to be their training? I blame all of this on how they are being trained, but I could be wrong. |
