Momma wouldn't let me take a ride today, too much getting ready for X-mas morning stuff for the kiddos (The joys of having three 8 year olds) but..... once responsibilities were handled, I still had to take advantage of this gorgeous weather here in The Republic with a little Me Time!

Dangit man, now I want some good chicken and fries and secret sauce! Well at least it's only a 60 mile ride to Mobile and I'm already "down to the coast".

If you like Rocky Patel then I strongly recommend Padron... even the 2000 series - Maduro of course. I used to smoke a lot of Rocky Patel and the likes.  Once I got onto Patron I never smoke anything else.

Looks like she was coming to get you!  Smiley

Had a 1964 Padron Exclusivo Natural at a Scotch tasting event I attended a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed it, the main thing holding me back is I can get the Rocky Patels for $3ish a stick, the Padron's I can't get quite that inexpensively.

I'm also a fan of the Nub by Olivia Cameroon and been toasting a lot of the Ave Maria line lately as well.

Oh, and that she that looks like she's coming to get me in the pic I'm not too worried about, that's my elder spawn, not the spousal unit. Smiley

Just purchased some Jefferson's Ocean (aged at sea) bourbon for my wife.   Seems interestingly good.   I may try a small taste (with my low tolerance for alcohol, that's all it takes).   She says it's supposed to be really good.

Aged at sea?  How does that work?   Do they just let the barrel float around for 8 years, or keep it under a dock?   Grin

Pretty interesting stuff actually, I've enjoyed the expressions I've had so far...

Actually, it's aged on a boat (I suspect a barge) and supposedly rocked by the waves versus sitting in an aging barn.   Supposedly, the rocking motion has an effect on the flavor of the bourbon.  Swashing/Swishing the bourbon around inside the barrel.   Will let you know when it gets opened.

Well, I'm sure that works better than drinking a pint and then going jogging.

Based on the scent and a small sip, I have to say that the Jefferson's Ocean Bourbon has a very distinctive flavor.   Much different or stronger flavor that other bourbons I have tasted.  Both my wife and I agree, there are lessor expensive bourbons that tasted better but, as with anything like this, it all depends on what you like.  No one ever accused me of being an expert on bourbon...   coolsmiley

At $108 plus tax per 750ml bottle, I doubt we'll be bringing much more home.   She likes another brand much better.

Yep, I got mine from Thomson where I get 10% off veteran discount and they still run about $6 a stick when I buy a box of 24.

Olivia is good. And so are the Rocky Patels.  It's nice to have vices. I think I'll start a vice thread.

It's gotten a bit stale, but for a bit of VRCC drinking history give this thread a gander:

A new one of general vices wouldn't be bad too though. Smiley

I chickened out and got metzgers. That’s the theme for this week chickening our. But the ride was fun. I think my comfortable ride limit at this point is 350 miles. Past that I wasn’t really having fun. I was just grinding it out.
