US sites in Iraq being targeted presently. Well they had to do it. It’s going to get interesting real quick if they kill more soldiers.

not official yet, but just heard tad bit ago no one killed as of now, but that could change? The rockets came from the Iran govt.
will see if Trump goes all crazy and does his own thing vs. consulting our US govt. first?
yep, will be real interesting next 24 hours that is what I think as well.

"will see if Trump goes all crazy and does his own thing vs. consulting our US govt. first". Surly you must know that the present state of the Middle East and how it all ties together with Russia, China, Ukraine, Israel...and how it was all dumped in Trump's lap, along with the unending personal and family attacks he has had to endure. It's easy to be an armchair critic. I'm guessing you are not the type who goes along to get along, making no waves with friends and family... yes I know, life would be easier that way. Just so you know...Trump is not obligated to consult with congress in matters of urgency like the attack on the embassy in Iraq or possible plans for more attacks on American interests... just filling you in, just in case you didn't know that. Now tell me about the "next 24 hours" and what you actually think...I'm all ears. If your country goes back to being run my beta or omega individuals like Obama and Kerry, I might have sympathy for your concerns. In the mean time, maybe a little less pearl clutching is in order!

Iran blinked! Their retaliation for killing their #2 guy is sending a dozen or so missiles and they don’t hit any Americans! Then they sent out a statement that they have attacked and concluded their retaliation and they don’t want war! The actions of a bully and a coward. Still hard to know how to proceed.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Iranians would be the 2nd country to get attacked by Nukes... (don't know if Isreal actually has them, just that I wouldn't be too surprised if they do).

I think we probably know where their leadership is (from time to time), and when they meet, and we could use tactical smart J dams &/or tomahawks rather than strategic nukes (even a small one) and get the job done, if we really want to go there. (And any nuke development locations if we know where they are.)
News from over there is hard to get, and they put on a very good show of grief for their fallen general and marching in the streets calling us the great Satan when they want to.... but I think a whole lot of people in Tehran would like them gone as much as us, and it would be a shame to smoke them (and the whole city).
The whole world has managed to go 75 years without letting that genie out the bottle again, and it would be best to keep it that way.
I'm pretty sure the Israelis do have them (or a couple). Thus, all Iranian violence toward them has always been through proxies and militias, not head on. I could be wrong.

In meeting tonight Speaker Pelosi was handed a note telling her VP Pence was on the phone.
“Tell him I’ll call him back,” she said according to sources in room, noting she had to go open the House for new session.
Two minutes later, she was handed note about air base bombing.

Taking out their leadership is a much better option than reducing their country to a glass parking lot or other options that we have. Our ultimate goal should be to eliminate their will and ability to conduct war on us or anyone else. Having said that, all options should be on the table and, they should know it. We all want to live in peace. But, there is always a price to pay for that. I don't believe any of us want a war to include President Trump but, we should all be willing to do what is necessary to maintain that peace. Edited: At this point I don't know if we had any casualties from this recent missile attack but, I have no doubt we know the precise location they were launched from. IF, there is even one American killed, we should let them know they are not safe or immune to a response. IMHO, those attacking missile units would or should have already been eliminated. We have the ability and should not be afraid to apply it to the attacking military units. Rams

Of the 52 targets already in the cross hairs and avoiding heritage sites-and they should be fixed targets warn them-2 or 3 hours seems sufficient-then smoke the targets-Then We MIGHT also stand down. But at the very least-with the caveats stated-smoke the fixed none heritage sites-SOON. And one of the targets should be of a very important military nature of theirs. Even if we only destroy facilities. RIDE SAFE.

Since they didn’t kill anyone with their missile strike, we should not kill anyone with ours. Just poke a bunch of really large deep holes in things like runways and missile launch pads.

And sadly it looks like the Iranians were expecting retaliation and shot down a civilian airliner with 176 souls on board. :'( (Why aren't civilian airline operations suspended during such times in such areas? That seems like a really obvious thing to do...) Iran has recovered the black box but is refusing to hand it over to Boeing. None on board survived. "Among them were 63 Canadians, 10 Swedes, three Germans and three Brits, Ukraine’s foreign minister Vadym Prystaiko confirmed. There were also 82 Iranians, 11 Ukrainians and four Afghans aboard, he added." Source - https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10694922/iran-plane-crash-ukrainian-airline-black-box/

If the missile units were fixed yes, but if they were off the back of (spread out) mobile trucks it's kind of a waste of good tomahawks, as the trucks move after shooting (if they know what's good for them; they don't even turn the engines off and are hauling ass out of there seconds after firing).
Quotes: Iraqi security forces said 22 rockets fell on sites housing coalition forces, including two that didn’t explode, but there were no casualties. A U.S. official said the attacks left no casualties but that a damage assessment was still under way. The Pentagon said Iran had fired more than a dozen missiles...
One wonders how good their aim is/was or if they aimed poorly on purpose, to make a face saving response, but try not draw a larger retaliation. Time will tell.

I was a kid (8th grade) when our hostages were taken by Iran but I remember the outrage of the people in our area. The common consensus was “Nuke Iran”. There were bumper stickers on cars as well as images of Mickey Mouse standing with his middle finger extended and the phrase “F@#! Iran” along the bottom and other slogans all over the place. I can remember even school busses having anti-Iran slogans on them and in Freshman year (‘79-‘80) on the back window of our bus we had one of the Mickey Mouse images. To hear people say “Turn Iran into a parking lot was not uncommon”. Iran has been playing the game Poke the Bear for far too long without consequences. The bear has been patient over the decades, the bear has placated and growled slightly to let the guy with the stick know it’s not happy to be poked but the guy keeps poking anyway trying to find a way to get the bear to show the people around the poker the bear is the bad guy, not the guy shoving a stick in the bear’s side. The bear has finally had enough of the poking. It mauled the guy with the stick. Friends of the poker were not happy about that so it was decided it would be a good thing to poke the bear some more even though the bear warned not to do that anymore because the response would not be pleasant one to the town’s people. The response by the bear should be a strong and loud one. The bear needs to be swift and precise with its giant paw along with a tooth bearing roar while standing on its hind legs. Let there be no misunderstanding that although the bear is pissed, mighty and determined to protect and defend itself, it would rather rest comfortably and peacefully without constantly being poked by those that want to test the bear and its presence.

I was thinking the same thing Jess. They were tracked, the source was known and it was probably from mobile launchers and maybe even from populated areas so any attack would have civilian casualties besides the mobile launchers would be gone. Then I remembered the movie the "Flight of the Intruder" and, as I remember the movie, Hanoi was off limits for air strikes but one of the pilots disobeyed that standing order and found the place full of SAMs. They were being stored there. Bet the same thing is going in in Iran. Makes it hard to target without some civilian casualties.

A Ukrainian airplane carrying 176 passengers and crew crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran's airport Wednesday morning, killing all on board and turning farmland on the outskirts of the capital into fields of flaming debris.
So we await the Main Stream Media and Democrat's quick response blaming this on President Trump as part of his wider Ukraine collusion story. It was probably part of some cover up, or collusion, or who knows what.... but it's definitely his fault.
In later news, the President was blamed for the snow in DC last night.
The president is supposed to speak about Iran later this morning, and the Democrats and media are preparing all kinds of outrage and condemnation over those comments, whatever they are.

You sure know how to make a guy feel old ! We were on a WestPac when Carter sent in forces to rescue the hostages. (Which ended badly, if you don't remember) We were then diverted to sail around in circles in the Indian Ocean in case something happened. It seems kind of strange in this day and age of the Internet, but we knew little of what actually happened and was going on. We just knew it was big, important, and secret. Yes, there was all kinds of hatred for the Iranians. I'm sure if I were to be honest, I still have much towards them. Even Cheech & Chong capitalized on it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D0bztv4IREs

I distinctly remember being on a school bus for an elementary school field trip during this, we were singing "Jimmy Carter Has a Way Of F'ing Up the U-S-A" to the tune of the Oscar Meyer "Oscar Meyer Has A Way With B-O-L-O-G-N-A" jingle. And when government fails (And I blame government, not the military!) let the private sector take over! (If you've got some time, watch this over hour long video. I was honored to be in the audience for this presentation as an EDS employee - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCaZXrU7NJE )

IMHO, those attacking missile units would or should have already been eliminated.
Unless our capability has been degraded, we should know where and what launched those missiles. We should have been expecting some sort of retaliation, if we weren't, we need some new military leaders. Edited: But then, we may have been fully aware of who, what and where this was coming from but weren't allowed to respond. It's happened before...………. Rams

Wow! That was a great Video! You must have been very proud to work for such a organization! I had forgotten about that rescue operation, even though I read Follet's book. I would not want Ross Perot as an enemy.
