Update from my friend in Seattle:
Almost 3am. Took 14 hours to get a bed. So far service here has been great. Waiting to see the Doctor for next steps. Sorry they are not allowing visitors. At least I do not have to wear the mask here. A negative pressure hospital room. I need a haircut and a shave with a massage.

Praying for the best. Hoping this lady is wrong, or it may be an experience we will all share. https://nypost.com/2020/03/21/top-new-jersey-health-official-judith-persichilli-says-everyone-will-get-coronavirus/

https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/03/nj-man-with-suspected-case-of-coronavirus-says-anti-malaria-drug-is-helping-him-recover.htmlA 69-year-old Bayonne man hospitalized since early Sunday said he’s frustrated he is still waiting on test results that will confirm a suspected case of coronavirus. But Albert “Al” Ammarito said he believes the anti-malaria drug he has been taking since Tuesday appears to have eliminated his fever and relentless dry cough. “If you were to look at me today, I am 100 times better than I was yesterday,” Ammararito said in a telephone interview Friday evening from his bed in an isolated room at Jersey City Medical Center. “I am feeling fine.”

If that's in reference to #446, I was posting the cartoon in criticism of Tedros' failure to recognize the source of the now global problem and his inability to recognize their trying to sweep the virus under the rug. There are estimates that the commie government could have reduced infections by 95% had they handled things differently and been open and honest with the world. As the cartoon shows, he is truly blind. I have no qualms with Asian folk, or the Chinese people specifically. I am pink. Call me that if you wish. I was not ridiculing China, I was criticizing Tedros. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/china-could-have-reduced-coronavirus-cases-by-95-avoided-global-pandemic-study

The Church I attend-Pomona Christian Church Pomona Missouri-E-mailed me again to let me know for at least the next two Sundays No Services No Extra Curricular Activities. On Sunday they would have a table outside the main entrance with prepackaged Communion. Our Senior Minister also said he will stream a service at 11.00 A M on both Sundays. I've Never realized til Now how Much Human Contact meant til it was removed! I also do NOT want to contract coronavirus nor transmit it should I get infected. I for one will be danged Glad when this pestilence is Finally Contained and hopefully eradicated. Peace be unto All My Brothers and Sisters here in our electronic clubhouse and GOD BLESS.

Colorado high country is hit pretty hard, I'm hermiting as much as possible right now too. Check out our mountain counties, all with small understaffed and poorly equipped hospitals. Gunnison 104.8 cases perr 100,000 (adjusted to population). Scroll down to see maps and graphs. https://covid19.colorado.gov/dataIt isn't easy. It'll pass and get better.

Let's hope the new drug cocktail using the malaria drug can shorten this... Just heard estimates for several months of this new normal. These drugs could shorten hospital stays dramatically reducing the bottleneck. Get 'em in, get 'em out. It hasn't "bitten" hard yet on the United States, but it's nibbling. I'm keeping an eye on Europe, and I'm afraid it'll leave a mark before it's all over. (s) Again, our gratitude goes out to China. (s). Note most the severe cases being treated today were infected 10-14 days ago. Viral shedding in coronavirus patients takes longer than thoughtResearchers say median duration for expulsion in survivors required 20 days https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Caixin/Viral-shedding-in-coronavirus-patients-takes-longer-than-thoughtIn an interview with The Lancet, Cao said the median duration of 20 days completely overturns previous assumptions on the detoxification time for acute respiratory virus infection. Longer viral shedding also means longer treatment and quarantine times, he said. Antiviral drugs seem to have little effect in shortening the viral shedding period, the study suggested. Among the 29 patients who received lopinavir/ritonavir, a medication for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS, the median duration of viral shedding was 22 days.Cao noted that these patients started the medication late. The median time from their illness to initiation of antiviral treatment was 14 days. This means Covid-19 patients may need stronger, earlier antiviral treatment. A combination of two or more kinds of antiviral drugs might be needed, but any effective treatment still needs further research, Cao said.

The weather's nice(ish) today here in The Republic.
I'm getting a bit stir crazy.
I was starting to back one of the Valks out to take a ride to nowhere, just get out in the country for a few hours.
Maybe I'm letting the insanity get to me, but I pushed the bike back in the garage and decided against it.
Not that I'm worried I'll catch it riding on open roads, or even while refueling, I can use hand sanitizer to mitigate the risks there, but because I'm worried I might have a wreck and end up taking a hospital bed and medical services away from greater need in the near future.
We'll see, if we go into a hard quarantine I might regret making that decision today, but for now at least I'm comfortable with it.

I have been needful of my FROTY. Was thinking along the same lines but more like what if I get a flat or have the ol' starter switch issue and need to hitch a ride with a sneezer. I'll keep waiting for a 50° day...

Update from my infected friend in Seattle, this time from his wife:
Update on Mike: he’s been taking the Chloroquine + Z-Pak cocktail at the hospital and he feels so much better. He just talked to the doctor and he’s being released today!! We need to self quarantine from each other for 3-4 more days just to be safe. Thank you all for your kind thoughts!!

Woo Hoo! This is GIGANTIC, Serk!!! Thanks for the update and optimism injection!
Just saw that only "a number" of hospitals are using this cocktail, and recording all data for clinical trial purposes. It sounds like your friend was very lucky to be a guinea pig!

Update from my infected friend in SeattleGlad for some good news Brian. Unwanted physical contact with others while riding in the urban world (for numerous reasons), is a real possibility. And the most spectacularly unwanted contact I can think of would be the inside a hospital (also for numerous reasons). The last time I was in one (15-17years?), the ER floor was so sticky it pulled my tennis shoe off.

wow SERK I am sort of taken back that you did not go for a cycle ride today for fear of ending up in a hospital. I guess that is one of the furthest things from my mind when hopping on the cycle but then again I do not live in a huge urban population and ride country roads more concerned with deer than other vehicles, especially now see less and less vehicles on the roads lately. I am still waiting for 40 degree low temps in the morning which has NOT happened yet but will after next week I sure hope to put the batteries back in and push that starter button....

Here in New Zealand we have just gone over 100 cases.........and now we are in forced lock down, shut up work Mean while a few weeks ago the prime minister is grand standing on how quick we shut the borders.....but didn't isolate anyone just told them to stay at home if they felt sick.......but ok for your house mates to go to work people videoing there entry to the country at how easy it was to just head through, some got a 5 sec talk about self isolating, others got nothing............. meanwhile the deputy PM is telling all kiwis to head home .....via those risky airports and guess what... Our numbers went from 8 to 100 in a few days, the first 60 all were directly related to air travel, then some contacts of them, 2 cases have an unknown regions of infection so lock down? everyone but essential services must be at home.

Exclusive: Inside The Military's Top Secret Plans If Coronavirus Cripples the Government https://www.newsweek.com/exclusive-inside-militarys-top-secret-plans-if-coronavirus-cripples-government-1492878?fbclid=IwAR1_uCEhHuuIu65j9B5jR7ZosET58lQ7LbqtIaPMNptq25UjjxbdoNJ0QjsMission essential in this regard applies to the maze of more than a dozen different secret assignments, most of them falling under three larger contingency plans: CONPLAN 3400, or the military's plan for "homeland defense," if America itself is a battlefield. CONPLAN 3500, "defense support of civil authorities," where the military assists in an emergency short of armed attack on the nation. CONPLAN 3600, military operations in the National Capital Region and continuation of government, under which the most-secret plans to support continuity are nested. All of these plans are the responsibility of U.S. Northern Command (or NORTHCOM), the homeland defense military authority created after 9/11. Air Force General O'Shaughnessy is NORTHCOM's Colorado Springs-based commander. On February 1, Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper signed orders directing NORTHCOM to execute nationwide pandemic plans. Secretly, he signed Warning Orders (the WARNORD as it's called) alerting NORTHCOM and a host of east coast units to "prepare to deploy" in support of potential extraordinary missions.
