I went to O'Reilly auto parts and got a bag, was plenty for my needs. Seems many auto parts stores carry them or can get them in a day. I called in the morning, picked them up about 5:00pm after being delivered from their local warehouse.

Best price.

Do a search with the above web site, and you'll find more information and the right product and size of bead.

When you contact them, tell them where you got referred from, and what you want it for.

note: I just found this I posted a couple of years ago.

I had bought a second container. I was giving the beads away as gifts at our annual local Rally.

My last few tire changes, I've used Ride-On. It acts as a balancing agent as well as a puncture sealant. So far, I haven't tested the sealing properties (or have I and not known it?  Roll Eyes ). I will say that I haven't balanced a tire since I started using it, and have had no balance issues. More expensive than BBs, yes, but I like the potential flat-saving it gives.

make sure u use an extra 10% for the balancing effect. That is or was on ride-ons site.
Also it will dry out in four yrs inside of the tire.

when I was traveling for my job I was only getting about 5k miles in per yr.  Rear E3 and rear Conti-Go on the front lasted 25k, a little more on the front.
so it was over four yrs when the tires were changed out and the Quad Boss I use same as ride-on had dried out. Did some research and found that indeed they all do that in four.

I have been using the "severe application" rate for each tire so far.

I've been reusing my supply of beads, but you always lose some during a tire change so I'm nearly out.  Next time I think I'll try the BBs.  Not getting them stuck in the valve core is a plus, and the price is much better.

Anyone familiar with the completion process for oil and gas wells should recognize the beads.  They're basically ceramic proppant, often used in place of sand when wells are hydraulically fractured.  Energy companies buy it by the ton, usually for well under a buck a pound.  Since drilling is practically shut down by the virus there's probably plenty available these days.

Swerve and your subject rehash. Back when I worked the oil patch the frac sand I hauled was coated with yellow rosin. At that time it was all Haliburton used. I hauled a pneumatic tank. I will say this-when out in the middle off lost and found Haliburton fed Good at their camps.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

Agreed, they put on a great feast at most of those big well jobs.  I saw my first well completion in the Texas Panhandle several years ago and had an awesome lunch.  I think it was a Schlumberger job.  And what a massive display of horsepower!  I'd never seen anything like it:  20 2,000 HP frac pump trucks pumping sand and water into that single wellbore.

I know that resin coated sand you hauled is still really common.  The ceramic beads cost more and get reserved for the really deep wells where they withstand extreme pressures better than sand.  And some of them get used for tire balancing!

Thanks, just replacing the front rubber. So I think it is 1 1/2 ounces. I think I am going to go with actual BB's.

I’m just going from memory, but I think I’ve been using 2oz. up front and 3 oz. on the rear car tire.

I thought those air soft pellets were kind of light.  How much do you need to get to 2-3 ounces?
