Yes planning a picnic lunch with the wife and kiddos to go watch...I have access to a private lot that should have a good vantage point...if they fly over.

Flight path puts them over head between 1400 and 1415...

And the even better Thunderbirds will be with them.

And doing Trenton and Philadelphia later today too...

They're supposedly going to do several other regions in the coming weeks, but they're keeping the details secret until a day or so before to stop people from traveling to the area.....

That's so cool,  I'm envious!   We get these behemoths buzzing around here regularly.

Had one literally buzz our place a couple weeks ago,  a real attention getter!   Screamers!   They touch and go here regularly and have for years.   I guess our terrain is very similar to mountainous enemy regions like Afghanistan,  so they've thumb tacked us for training.

Oops, mistaken.  Actually C17s I guess.  Here they are.

Of course there are 100 rules about required minimum altitudes.  Rules that if broken can get a pilot's ticket pulled (and a court martial to boot), but I like flyovers that make me want to duck (difficult in NYC though).

When our 3-star 15th AF commander retired, we had a full blown pass in review on the (Billy Mitchell) old March AFB parade ground, and I got tapped to lead a squadron (oh God, I only marched in officer training for maybe 3 hours, 9 years ago, and I'm not that good at it), and then the idiots didn't mow the field and marching in long grass makes everyone appear inebriated.

So March was called Tanker Town USA (before closing), so A KC-10 comes over us so low, it had to pull up to clear the flight line control tower.  People noticed, and cheered.  But the powers that be went looking for heads (pilot heads).  Being smart fellows, both left and right seaters (senior officers) already had their papers in for retirement (like the next day) so their heads were not chopped off.

The other funny thing about this parade was that the usual command given to kick the ceremony off is (properly bellowed) Pass in Review.  But over the PA system, a lot of us thought it sounded like Pass in the Nude.

Man, I miss those days.  (but not the marching)   Smiley

And when one of these fat bastards goes over your head at 80 feet, it seems a lot closer to you than that.

The best pass in review I ever saw (in person) was of course a basic training graduation ceremony at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego.  Now those guys can march!

And it is interesting to note that this is the only formal ceremony among all service branches that is entirely led by NCOs.

A good NCO will blow away most commisioned officers on this part of military life . I have a lot of respect for the men and women who are the DI's for boot camp - only the best NCO's get that duty - as it should be.

My dad was a good Marine.

But he never had anything nice to say about his Paris Island DI (at all).

I "think" I heard them pass west of me going down the Hudson River but could not see them

Also I was sitting in a chair on my front lawn hoping to catch a glimpse if they flew south west of White Plains but no joy, they went due south from that city 10 miles away

Still it was great to sit on a chair on the lawn on a sunny day just doing nuthin at all

Thanks for the video

Maybe 6 years ago I was sitting and saw the b17 nine o nine pass right over my house  WOWEE

I followed it to Westchester Airport on the Valk and got a tour.  That gave me the idea to go up with my brother for his 60th birthday over labor day.  Amazing amazing amazing experience  Too bad it crashed a month later with loss of life   Still I would consider doing it in the b24 some day

Unfortunately I had to work today near Philly,   looks like I could have sat on my boat in Stamford and watched them fly over my head.

All military pilots must meet these requirements.

64-77 inches
Have a standing height of 64-77 inches and a sitting height of 34-40 inches. Have no history of hay fever, asthma, or allergies after the age of 12. Meet weight and physical conditioning requirements.  Normal color vision.

I'm not sure they will even give incentive rides (in fighters with backseats) to taller people.  (maybe generals)

At 69", I fit just fine in the back of an F16B model, though after the crew chief belted me in and yanked all the straps (shoulders, belt) extremely tight (and plugged in all the g suit, helmet, coms, mask, oxygen lines), the claustrophobia kicked in a bit, and it seemed real small back there.

Also in the F16 there's a natural ledge to lay your arms on both sides of the cockpit (like a windowsill), but the pilot said if he had to eject us, both my arms/shoulders would be broken and maimed badly so it was best not to do that.   So folding your hands in your lap (in the praying position) seemed safer.
