Game of the day?  I'm gonna choose Bruins vs. Hurricanes, both physical teams that don't seem to like unwanted contact with others.  A couple of good top lines from each, with Pastrnak (may not play) as always a serious threat in the attacking zone. Very good goaltending at both ends of the rink.  Worth the watch.Tossup as to who takes Game 1.

Well, it didn't make game of the day yesterday, but I'd vote for it today. Those are both two physical teams. Should be a great series.  cooldude

Broonz in double OT; looks like a close series developing.  Either could win as it should go 7.  They go again today.

My Avs blitzed Keumper for 3 in about 1.5 minutes with 6 minutes left in the game and held 'Yotes to only 14 shots total.  A splendid effort by Colorado in 60 minutes for a fine first win.
If Colorado skates like they did for every game, it should go 4-2 their way.

But....my Canadiens took a tough loss against a bigger (a better team) Flyers team.  Carey Price was very good to keep Montreal close (as usual) enough; they had it tied and lost he lead right back.
Hit the post with 20 seconds left; Hart was beaten but the iron was his friend.  I think Philly has too much for them and it may only go 4 to 1 as a series.

I'm likin' this. Smiley

With the current state of the world...and with the Oilers once again out of the playoffs...the one positive thing I have left to look forward to is the misery of Quebecers when the Habs lose.  Grin Wink

Well it seems the NHL hqs bowed to BLM. I love hockey but will not support such idiots. Haven’t watched and NFL game in 2-3 yrs. whenever they started kneeling then here cones the nba now the nhl F-em all the greedy bastards deserve to go broke and live in the streets.

snuggle the damn hockey faggots, they are kneeling, joining forces with BLM, de-fund the police, support the looting burning piece of poop losers. snuggle them and the Zamboni they rode in on.
It never fails to surprise me the ignorance of some. By all means don't watch if you are put off by it.

I'm looking forward to a full day of hockey. It's supposed to be 114* today, and I've about had enough of it.  tickedoff

Please, I'm not ignorant. The NHL throwing it's support into the BLM narrative just shows that they believe it is okay with what that organization and it's affiliates, supporters, etc are doing across this country. Including rioting, looting, arson, assault, property destruction, assaults on and murder of Law Enforcement officers, defund the police movements, etc. The NHL letting the players kneel in support, I think is idiotic. You hockey players are entertainers, you are on the clock to entertain the people, get the hell off your knees and do your job when you are on the clock. After the games, on your own time, you can kneel around all you want, wherever you want. I suggest you woke Hockey players go kneel on the South Side of Chicago on a hot Friday night to show your solidarity to the brothers and the cause.
As far as you watching the games, I don't care, free country and all that. I don't want to support or encourage folks with that mindset.

Aargh!  Avs outshot Coyotes 51-21 yesterday, but Kuemper was stellar.  Coach Bednar even complemented him, a rare kudo to the opposition from him.  Swing game is tomorrow. Sad
Las Vegas is looking formidable against Chicago; they may take the series today.

Kuemper was impressive ! But, it's going to be hard to win a series completely on his back. The Coyotes are outgunned. But they are giving it their all.

Binnington has been getting rocked. I would expect St. Louis to pull him.

Yes, a change up may be a good idea.  St. Louis is in a hole and has to win today, much like Arizona yesterday.

If all the teams stay healthy, we'll have a Cup champion by the end of September.  NHL is doing all it can to stave off the virus with sequestering the players.
A great matchup for the western finals would be Vegas/Colorado (my hope); eastern finals, Carolina/Canadiens (my biased hopes).  Time will tell. Smiley

Svechnikov, missing that young Russian winger is huge to the Canes.  I have great respect for Rod Brind'Amour, both as a player and coach, but he needs to focus on his game and not on bad calls and fate.

I may be slightly bias, but the Bruins have a great team, even w/o David Pastrnak and Tuukka Rask.

Obviously, I'm backing Boston and I'll take the Avalanche in the west, just because.

yeah, while they all state the "we support his decision " line, I wouldn't be surprised if he's played his last game with the spoked B on his chest.

Boston finally came alive in the 3rd last night and the Canes made it worth watching in the last 2 min.

Charlie Mcavoy's hit on Staal was a game changer.

Conner Clifton looks like he's going to be a great defenseman once he fills out.

Halak has regularly been a good backup tender, but I don't see him carrying the Bruins much further to a Cup.
The Avalanche did just that to the Coyotes yesterday; completely buried them with speed, four lines rolling and shutdown defense.  Grubauer barely broke a sweat.
Today and tomorrow my Canadiens in a must-beat pf Philly or the tables will surely turn in the Flyers favor for the series.  Price has to be excellent and the Habs have to fly on the forecheck.

And Mike Milbury remains the putz he's always been. Grin

Addendum:  Dale Hawerchuk, HOF center, consistent and versatile player, passed away this day.  Dependable up and down the ice.  angel  Mostly with Winnipeg.

Well Calgary went out and find style last night against Dallas!
Any opinions on how the goaltending was handled .....if you watch the game?

I've seen nearly every game this year. But sadly I missed last night. The kids and grandkids were over for pool volleyball. Calgary had a good team !

With that being said (finally) if true, he did the right thing and the teammates backing must be genuine.

I've always given Rask my support, but many in the Bruins Fan Base do not.

All team sports have the "for the team" attitude, but hockey teams seem to have a little more.

It must be an amazing feeling to go through the NHL playoffs with other gifted athletes.

Les Habitants made an exit last night, but put up a helluva game and series against the #1 seed in the East.  They weren't even expected to make the showings against superior teams, but Carey Price once again reminded fans that he is one of the best in the current era.  Hart came up big; his boyhood hero was the man he bested this time.
So now, I throw my support fully to the local boys, Colorado Avalanche, to make it to the finals.  They have the horses to get them there and a very good coach who have them buying into his system.  They are young, fast, and have the vision in front of them to hoist Lord Stanley's prize.  Go Avs. cooldude

Sir Meat, you will have to start a new thread pretty soon with the title: "Hockey in September". Smiley

Used to be.

I've watched just about every bruins game in the last 25 years.

I quit right after the NHL decided to undermine due process, join the other sports organizations and give credibility to a knife yielding domestic abuser that wouldn't follow direct orders from LEOs.

Why?

To be the same as NFL, NBA, MLB?

If Bettmen allows any political statement back in this December, I'm done.

Congratulations Lightning ! The most prestigious trophy presentation of all.
Tampa Bay certainly deserved the Cup this abbreviated year as they were managed and coached well.  Key players were added to give them a deep bench with skill players and "lunch pail" players who did the heavy lifting of penalty kill (Dallas got little on their power plays) and defensive play.
Khudobin played as well as he could under the circumstances, being throw into the fray after Bishop went down; just not enough ice time to be razor sharp.
Hedman was a rock on the back line, but I would have voted Brayden Point for the Conn Smythe (at 5'10" he shows his grit around the big boys).  His goal last night was all about effort when he beat four Stars to his own rebound and put it home.
So, the season is over when it is regularly time for it to begin...a topsy turvy world we have here.
