For those that haven't been, I highly recommend a trip to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton.  They have an SR71 and Valkyrie Bomber there, and best of all, it is Free!  They also used to offer tours of the resto hangers, but I thing you have to pay for those, how ever I don't think it is expensive.

Note:  NO Weapons allowed including Pocket Knives, I don't know if that is on the entire base or just at the museum, but suspect the former.

Also I see that they are not offering tour at this time, but I may contact them and see if we can arrange a group tour if folks are interested.

Be sure to eat at the Valkyrie Cafè there. It’s not a great restaurant, but it is the best named one.

I was thinking of making the ride from Washington State. My parents live in Cincy.  And this coincides with their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Telling them about this they mentioned that this year is the 17 year explosion of the Group X Cicadas.  One of the largest groups.

For those that live in the Group X area: What is it like riding? or just parking your bike?  Do they swarm in large groups causing a hazard to riding?

We have pine beetles that are easily 2+ inches in size, like cicadas can get, and they hurt.  But they also dont' come out in the multi-millions.

Thanks.
They talk about them all the time. "its the 5 yr cicada". Well, yea they come out every yr. They are no big thing. They stay in trees a lot and I've rarely ever hit one. Plus I don't think they come out till mid july.

Thanks Fudgie!  That's what I was hoping: That they stayed near the tree where they fed.  I was picturing a locust style swarming.

We get grasshoppers swarms and lone pine beetles here in WA and they are mobile and that hard shell hurts when it gets you in a uncovered spot!

Sometimes there's more not-Valkyries... to me InZane is about
coming together and having fun riding motorcycles... this InZane
was far away from me, so it was also about a several week adventure  cooldude ...
